CSAC announces Fall 2017 3-D Award Winners

ASTON, Pa. – The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) has announced the Fall 2017 recipients of the CSAC 3-D Award, which honors the teams from each sport that best exemplified the NCAA Division III principles of “Discover, Develop, Dedicate.”

The 3-D Award was developed prior to the 2011 academic year by the CSAC’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Following each conference contest, participating teams were asked to evaluate their opponents based on the three aforementioned Division III principles, giving a rating of 1-10 in each “D” category.

Clarks Summit University won a pair of Fall 2017 3-D awards. The Defenders were honored in men’s soccer and volleyball. The Defenders won the award previously in men’s soccer in 2013 and 2014, while the volleyball team previously won the award in 2013.

Cabrini University won a pair of awards as well, capturing the men’s and women’s cross country honors. This marks the first time that the Cavalier harriers have been honored with the 3-D Award.

Cairn University was honored in women’s soccer. This is the sixth time that the Highlanders have been honored with this award, and they won the award for the fifth straight year.

The 3-D award for field hockey went to Cedar Crest College. This is the fourth time the Falcons have won the award, previously winning it in 2015, 2014 and 2011.

“For the seventh year in a row, we are extremely pleased with the reception of the 3-D award among our conference’s student-athletes,” said CSAC Commissioner Adrienne Mullikin.  “The fact that all voting is conducted by fellow student-athletes should make it even that much more meaningful for all of the winners. The conference commends the fall 3-D winners, and thanks them for their commitment to upholding the principles of NCAA Division-III.”
