Neumann's Women's Lacrosse and Softball Prove Spring Training is More Than Fun N' Sun
The Neumann College Women's Lacrosse and Softball teams took time out of their spring training while in Orlando, Fla. to visit the Lake Silver Elementary school to help participate in their Safe Routes To School Program (SRS) with the help of the Disney's Outreach program and the Health Master's Club directed by Dr. Toni Moody.
"SRS provides educational and encouragement activities to encourage safe biking and walking to school,” said Dr. Moody. “This program is the physical activity arm of the Health Master's our Step Up To School Wellness program which personifies the energy balance equation (calories in = calories out). The USDA Team Nutrition program is our healthier eating arm."
On March 4th, the Neumann students assisted with a Bike Rodeo. This event provided an opportunity for the Lake Silver students to review and practice bicycle safety skills. With the help of the two teams, the students completed a brief survey and then proceeded through a skills station. After the bike safety lesson was finished, the teams lead a few games of United States Twister, sang "I'm a little Tea Pot" and finally lead a game of kickball to cap off their day.
