Notre Dame’s collective team grade point average was 3.443, bested only by the Vassar women’s lacrosse team average of 3.474. Washington & Lee rounded out the top three with a GPA of 3.438. “I am very proud of the academic achievements of our lacrosse team,” said Notre Dame head lacrosse coach Melissa Falen. “This recognition illustrates the College’s commitment to the Division III philosophy of athletics. In particular, this award reflects the academic commitment to excellence by our student-athletes and the commitment and collaborative support of the athletic department and faculty.” In total, 62 programs in Division III earned Academic Squad honors for having a team GPA of 3.0 or greater. Notre Dame was one of only two institutions from the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) recognized as a team with at least a 3.0 GPA by the IWLCA. Entering this fall, College of Notre Dame student-athletes have earned a collective GPA of 3.0 or higher in 20 consecutive semesters. The Gator lacrosse squad finished their 2009 campaign with a 2-11 overall and 2-5 CSAC record. Related Headlines
