CABRINI’S GRUGAN, ROMANELLI NAMED TO USILA/LAXWORLD NORTH-SOUTH SENIOR ALL-STAR GAME
PERRY, N.Y. – Senior attackman Casey Grugan (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley HS) and senior midfielder Rich Romanelli (Rosedale, Md./Dulaney HS) have been selected to play in the 2010 U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association/LaxWorld Division III North-South Senior All-Star Game, the organization announced today. Grugan and Romanelli have been named to the South roster, coached by Goucher College’s Kyle Hannan.
Grugan concluded his career at Cabrini as the program’s all-time leader in career points (334) and finishes tied for fifth on the NCAA Division III all-time list. He lists second in program history in career goals (206) and career assists (128).
Grugan also owns the Cavaliers’ single-season record for points, notching 97 during the 2010 campaign. He recorded at least one point in the final 76 games of his career, the longest streak among Division III players in the country, and scored at least one goal in an NCAA Division III-record 73 consecutive contests.
Grugan was named the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Player of the Year for the third straight season. He is a four-time CSAC First Team selection and twice received USILA All-America distinction, claiming third-team honors in 2008 and second-team accolades in 2009.
Romanelli appeared in 17 games in 2010, posting 17 points with 12 goals and five assists. He registered 39 shots and scooped 18 groundballs.
Romanelli wrapped up his Cavalier tenure with 109 career points on 79 goals and 30 assists. He became the 16th player in program history to reach the 100-point plateau in Cabrini’s 20-7 win at CSAC foe Immaculata University on March 27. Romanelli earned CSAC Honorable Mention laurels in 2008.
The North roster will be coached by Western New England College’s John Klepacki.
The 2010 USILA/LaxWorld North-South Senior All-Star Game will be played Friday, May 28 at Goucher College in Towson, Md. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
