Five Griffins Earn Local Academic Honors

PHILADELPHIA -- R.J. Every (Lansdale Catholic), Dan Geary (Lansdale Catholic), Pam Moyer (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown), Alycia Tranchitella (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) and Nick Coan (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) all were selected to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Teams as selected by the area sports information directors which feature student-athletes from the local Division I, II, and III institutions with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Every (Business Administration) and Geary (Accounting) were named to the men's track & field team as the duo make a return appearance on the squad. Every was also a two-time recipient in cross country (2007, 2008) while Geary makes his second-straight track & field team. Both hold a plethora of school records in both indoor and outdoor track.

Tranchitella, a Business Education major, is also no stranger to the local honor as this is her third-consecutive nod as a member of the team. Additionally, this past fall, she was selected the Academic All-Area Women's Cross Country Performer of the Year, making her second-straight appearance on that squad as well.

Moyer, a Nursing major, gets the nod for the first time in the women's lacrosse award.  She earned her second-consecutive first-team all-conference selection this past season on defense as she led the team in ground balls and help guide the squad to the league championship game.

Every, Geary, Tranchitella, and Moyer were seniors this past season.

Coan, a rising junior Biology major, was chosen for the first time in men’s lacrosse.  This past season Coan helped lead the Griffins to the conference championship game in only the second year of the programs existence.  He is a two-year captain, and has received all-conference awards at the midfield position in each of his first two seasons.  Nick holds the school record for career totals in points (69), assists (45), and groundballs (130). Off the field Coan is a member of the school’s residence life staff where he serves as a resident assistant.
