Cabrini nets two national honors
The Cabrini College men's basketball team is ranked eighth in the Jan. 23rd edition of the d3hoops.com Top 25 poll, while Cavaliers' senior guard Cory Lemons has been named to the d3hoops.com Team of the Week, which honors the top-performing player nationally at each position from the week before.
The Cavaliers, coached by Marcus Kahn, went 2-0 on the week, with victories over conference foes Gwynedd-Mercy and Baptist BIble, to improve to 16-1 overall, and 11-0 in CSAC play. They moved up two spots from last week's poll, and the ranking of 8th is the highest in program history.
Lemons, who was also named to the CSAC weekly honor roll, was one of just five players nationally named to the Team of the Week. In two games, he averaged 19.5 points, 7.5 assists, and 7.5 rebounds, while turning the ball over just three times in 67 minutes of action. He went 15-for-29 from the field in the two victories, including a 6-for-10 showing from behind the three-point line. He becomes the fifth player in Cabrini history to be named to the Team of the Week, and the first since Kevin Misevicius, who received the laurel on Jan. 12, 2010.
