CSAC soccer trio lauded by ECAC
CENTERVILLE, MA: Three Colonial States Athletic Conference men's soccer players have been named Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Region All-Stars for the 2011 campaign. Cabrini College senior defender Jim Mattock and Neumann University senior goalie Bob Mastrillo are First Team selections, while Neumann freshman M/F Michael Attalian has been named to the Second Team.
All three players were previously named First Team All-CSAC following the completion of the 2011 regular season.
Mattock started 19 games on defense for the Cavaliers, and led the team in scoring with six goals, five assists, and 17 points, while helping to anchor a Cabrini defense that allowed an average of just 1.9 goals per game.
Mastrillo made 17 appearances in goal for Neumann, including 15 starts, and posted a 12-3-1 record with seven shutouts. He boasted an .819 save percentage, while leading the Knights to the third round of the 2011 NCAA National Playoffs.
Attalian, who was also named the CSAC Rookie of the Year, started 16 games between midfield and forward for the CSAC-champion Knights, and finished with two goals, two assists, and six points. Both of his goals on the year were game-winners.
