James Wagner Named CSAC Assistant Commissioner
ASTON, Pa. – Colonial States Athletic Conference Commissioner Adrienne Mullikin has announced the hiring of James Wagner as Assistant Commissioner, effective July 1, 2016.
Wagner comes to the CSAC from Ursinus College, where he was the Director of Athletic Communications from 2007 to 2015. During his eight years at Ursinus, Wagner served as the chief statistician for 25 varsity sports, in addition to running the social media accounts. In addition, Wagner also served on the Hall of Fame committee and started the Ursinus College Sports Network, which provided live video of various athletic events. Wagner also helped Ursinus host several NCAA events, including the 2007 and 2008 Division III Field Hockey Championships.
"I am thrilled that James is taking the next step in his already impressive career in intercollegiate athletics administration with the CSAC office," said Mullikin. "His accomplishments at his previous institutions and his enthusiasm for this role stood out to the search committee and I am excited for him to join the conference office staff."
Prior to Ursinus, Wagner also served two years as the sports information director at Holy Family University. As the first SID in school history, he handled day-to-day public relations requests for 14 varsity sports and also performed play-by-play of men’s and women’s basketball games.
With more than 11 years experience in the field, Wagner also served on the executive board of ECAC-SIDA as the College Division Representative from 2014 to 2016. Wagner will serve as co-chair and host of the 2017 ECAC-SIDA convention, which will be held in Valley Forge next June.
Wagner has also served as the emcee for the Philadelphia Area Small College Basketball Association bi-weekly luncheon, in addition to serving on the Hall of Fame committee.
Away from sports information, Wagner was the color analyst for Cumberland Valley football on 1460 The Ticket in Harrisburg in 2013 and spent six years as play-by-play/color analyst for high school football in Central Pennsylvania.
An avid baseball fan, Wagner served as an official scorer for the Camden Riversharks of the Atlantic League and the Wilmington Blue Rocks of the Carolina League.
Wagner is a 2001 graduate of Susquehanna University with a degree in broadcasting, working with the college radio station and sports information office.
Wagner and his wife, Jennifer, reside in Royersford with their two sons, Chase and Connor.
