Centenary top pick in Men's Soccer Preseason poll
ASTON, Pa. – Centenary University was picked as the favorite in the 2017 Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) men’s soccer preseason coaches’ poll released on Wednesday afternoon.
The Cyclones, who captured the CSAC title last season, got 96 points and eight first-place votes.
“It’s certainly an honor to be recognized by your peers as one of the top teams in the conference,” said Centenary University head coach
Keith O’Connor. “We look forward to another highly competitive season in the CSAC.”
Cabrini University, which advanced to the CSAC title game last season, was second with 88 points and one first-place vote. Immaculata University was in third with 74 points, while Neumann University was fourth with 71 points and one first-place vote.
Keystone College came in fifth at 65 points, followed by Marywood University in sixth at 43 points and Gwynedd Mercy University in seventh at 38.
Cairn University (36 points), Rosemont College (22) and Clarks Summit University (17) rounded out the poll.
The season begins on Friday, September 1, with nine of the ten CSAC teams in action. Conference play is set to begin on Saturday, September 23 with two matchups. The CSAC championship game is scheduled for Saturday, November 4, with the winner receiving the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
