Cedar Crest picked first in CSAC Softball Preseason Coaches Poll

ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College softball team was picked as the favorite by the coaches in the 2019 Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) preseason poll released on Friday morning.

The Falcons got 63 points and seven first-place votes, while Keystone College was second with 50 points and Centenary University was third with 45 points.

“I am so excited for Cedar Crest College and our athletes to be picked first in the CSAC preseason coaches’ poll,” said Cedar Crest head coach Kim Begley. “To receive this ranking from the coaches is an honor. I am so proud of their hard work and determination throughout the offseason.

“The commitment and the culture that this team has built is what makes this group of young ladies so special. We are looking forward to getting on the dirt and competing against the first class teams in the CSAC,” added Begley.

Wilson College was fourth with 43 points and one first-place vote, with Cairn University in fifth with 35 points. Rosemont College was sixth with 22 points, followed by Clarks Summit University in seventh with 17 points and Notre Dame of Maryland University in eighth with 13 points.

The season starts with Cairn University traveling to The University of Valley Forge on Thursday, February 28. Conference play starts on March 23 with Cairn traveling to Notre Dame of Maryland.

The four-team, double-elimination CSAC Championship will start on Friday, May 3.
