Rosemont captures WBB championship with win over Keystone
ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Rosemont College Ravens won their first Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) women’s basketball championship defeating the Keystone College Giants, 80-55, on Saturday afternoon at Alumnae Hall.
The Ravens, now 24-3, will advance to their first NCAA tournament at a site to be determined on Monday. Keystone finishes its season at 16-10.
Rosemont led wire-to-wire in the win, shooting 41.4 percent from the field. Rosemont senior center
Ashley Murray led all scorers with 19 points and had 14 rebounds, while senior point guard
Ayanna Thompson scored 15 points. She was named as the tournament MVP.
Sophomore forward
Jayme Byers also had 15 points, while junior guard
Ke’Alohilani Naone-Carter scored 14 points. Byers also grabbed 12 rebounds as the Ravens had a 53-36 edge on the glass.
Keystone was led by 15 points from freshman guard
Mac Oribello, while senior forward
Mayah Kitchen added in 12 and sophomore guard
Khaliah Gordon added in ten. Kitchen also grabbed 11 rebounds for the Giants.
Rosemont led 19-4 after one quarter and had a 35-14 lead at intermission. Keystone battled back in the second half, cutting the Rosemont lead to 56-40 at the end of the third quarter.
Thompson also had seven assists in the win.
