CSAC Announces 2021 Women's Volleyball End of Year Awards
ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) is proud to announce its 2021 Women’s Volleyball End of Year Awards. These awards including All-CSAC (First Team, Second Team and Honorable Mention), Defensive, Player and Rookie of the Year, along with Coach of the Year and the 3-D Award.
These awards were voted upon by the league’s ten head coaches, were not permitted to vote for their own players.
Cedar Crest swept all four major awards, as sophomore outside hitter Ava Grapsy (Macungie, Pa.) won the 2021 Player of the Year Award and the 2021 Rookie of the Year Award. Grapsy led the CSAC in kills with 240 and was third in the CSAC in hitting percentage at .277. She had a season-high 17 kills against William Paterson back on September 4. She was second in the CSAC in points per game at 3.84. She is the first player from Cedar Crest to win the Player of the Year in women’s volleyball, and the second Falcon to win the Rookie of the Year award (Kayla Yasso, 2019)
Cedar Crest graduate student and libero Tiffany Hoppes (Macungie, Pa.) was named as the CSAC Defensive Player of the Year. This is the second time she has won the award, as she was named the Defensive Player of the Year back in 2018. Hoppes had a conference best 435 digs for an average of 5.58 per set. She had a season-high 36 digs against PSU-Abington.
Cedar Crest head coach Shelby Morgan was honored as the 2021 CSAC Coach of the Year by her peers. This is the third time she has been honored as Coach of the Year, winning the award in 2017 and 2019. This season, she led the Falcons to an 18-5 record and perfect 9-0 in the CSAC, earning the top seed in the upcoming playoffs.
Finally, Cedar Crest was honored as the 3-D Award winner. Implemented for the 2011-12 academic year, the Colonial States Athletic Conference 3D Award replaced the CSAC Team Sportsmanship Award. The 3D Award recognizes the teams in each sport that best demonstrate the NCAA Division-III philosophy of "Discover, Develop, Dedicate." The 3D Award was conceived and developed by the CSAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). This is the second time the Falcons have won the award, last winning it in 2011.
