Four CSAC teams set for NCAA tournament
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Four teams from the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) found out where they will be starting their journey in the NCAA tournaments as the fields were released late Sunday and Monday afternoon.
All four earned a spot in the NCAA tournament by winning their respective championship tournament and the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
Late Sunday night, Wilson College found out it will be playing in the upcoming NCAA Field Hockey Tournament, as the Phoenix (18-0) will head to the Empire State to take on SUNY-New Paltz on Wednesday. Game time is 1 p.m.
Wilson won the CSAC’s automatic qualifier by defeating Cedar Crest on Saturday 3-0 in the conference title game.
New Paltz comes into the match 16-2 after winning the State University of New York Conference (SUNYAC) with a 1-0 win over SUNY-Cortland.
The winner of this game will advance to the second round and play the winner of Tufts and Johnson & Wales on Saturday, November 13, at Middlebury College.
Cedar Crest College, winners of the CSAC Women’s Volleyball Championship, will take on Trinity (Texas) in the first round at host Stevens on Friday. Cedar Crest (20-5) defeated Notre Dame of Maryland (13-12) on Saturday to win the bid to the NCAA tournament.
Trinity defeated Southwestern University 3-1 on Sunday in the championship of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) tournament.
The winner of this match will face the winner of host Stevens and Middlebury in the second round.
Bryn Athyn College, winners of the CSAC Women’s Soccer Championship, will take on host Misericordia University in the NCAA first round on Saturday at 1 p.m. Bryn Athyn (11-3-2) defeated Cairn University on Saturday night 2-0 in the CSAC title game.
Misericordia, who won the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom Conference title with 1-0 win over Stevens, boasts a 18-1 record. The winner of that match will face the winner of the Lynchburg-Middlebury match on Sunday.
Finally, the Rosemont College will take on host Amherst in the first round of the NCAA tournament on Saturday at a time to be determined. Rosemont (12-4-1) defeated Cairn University 3-0 on Saturday to win its first CSAC men’s soccer title.
Amherst, out of the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC), received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament after falling in the NESCAC quarterfinal against Colby in penalty kicks.
The winner of that match will take on the winner of host Babson against Cabrini.
