MORRISTOWN, N.J. – Pushed to the brink of elimination in the championship match, top-seeded Cairn responded by forcing a fifth set to eventually take a 3-2 win over second-seed Saint Elizabeth in the 2021 Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Men’s Volleyball Championship on Saturday afternoon at Saint Elizabeth.

Cairn, who advanced to the title match after besting Wilson earlier in the day, won the fourth seed 28-26 and then won the fifth set 15-8 over the Eagles.

Scott Bassill from Cairn was named as the Most Outstanding Player as he had 40 assists, 11 digs and six block assists in the title bout. Collin Benjamin and Caleb Horning each had 12 kills for the Highlanders.

Saint Elizabeth, who defeated Valley Forge earlier in the day to advance to the championship match, got 16 kills from Kodi Peters and eight kills from Jarod Crowe.

This was the first CSAC championship, as last year’s inaugural tournament was cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
