CSAC Announces 2021 Men's Lacrosse End of Year Awards
ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) has announced its 2021 Men’s Lacrosse End of Year Awards. These awards include All-CSAC, Player, Defensive, Rookie and Coach of the Year as well as the 3-D Award winner.
Player of the Year honors went to Stockton University senior attack Joey Tiernan (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern). A first-team All-CSAC selection, Tiernan led the Ospreys in points with 38 (21g, 17a). he is the second straight player from Stockton to win the award.
Defensive Player of the Year honors went to Kean University senior defender Matt Palmieri (Waldwick, N.J./Waldwick). Palmieri, the first player from Kean to win this honor, led a defensive unit that allowed just 53 goals in nine games this season. A first-team All-CSAC selection, he averaged 1.63 caused turnovers per game.
Rookie of the Year honors went to Centenary University sophomore goalkeeper JT Doyle (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township). Doyle is the third player from Centenary to receive Rookie of the Year honors in men’s lacrosse (Joey DeBiasse, 2013; Wayne Safreed, 2019). For this spring, first and second year players were eligible for the Rookie of the Year award. Doyle, a first-team All-CSAC selection, made a conference high 115 saves on the year, an average of 19.17 per contest.
Coach of the Year honors went to Kevin Zulauf of Stockton, his second straight Coach of the Year from the CSAC. This year, the Ospreys again earned the top seed in the CSAC playoffs with a perfect 6-0 mark and a 6-1 mark, the lone loss coming to national power Salisbury back on March 27.
The 3-D award was shared by Centenary and Keystone. Implemented for the 2011-12 academic year, the Colonial States Athletic Conference 3D Award replaced the CSAC Team Sportsmanship Award. The 3D Award recognizes the teams in each sport that best demonstrate the NCAA Division-III philosophy of "Discover, Develop, Dedicate." The 3D Award was conceived and developed by the CSAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
