Jeff DeBaldo Named CSAC Assistant Commissioner
VILLANOVA, Pa. – Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Commissioner Marie Stroman has announced the hiring of Jeff DeBaldo as Assistant Commissioner. DeBaldo began his duties with the CSAC on Oct. 10.
“I am excited to welcome Jeff to the CSAC. His passion for athletics communications, coupled with extensive experience at the Division III level at both the campus and conference level, will be a great asset to our member institutions and conference staff,” said Marie Stroman, CSAC Commissioner.
DeBaldo joins the CSAC with over 12 years of athletic experience, including five years with the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference as the Director of Sports Information and Assistant Commissioner. He served as the primary media contact for multiple sports, assisted with conference administration, publicity as well as statistics. DeBaldo most recently worked with Argo, AI based in Pittsburgh where he worked as an Autonomous Vehicle System Test Specialist.
“I am humbled and honored to be joining the Colonial States Athletic Conference in the role of assistant commissioner. I want to thank the search committee for their efforts, as well as for placing their trust in me to take on this exciting opportunity,” DeBaldo said. “A conference is only as good as the presidents, athletic administrators, coaches and student-athletes who make it up and I am excited to begin to get to know the many different constituent groups within the CSAC.”
Prior to Argo, AI, DeBaldo was a media relations intern for the Pittsburgh Pirates where he was active in various media productions, statistical outputs and supporting the communication department’s efforts leading up to and through the 2015 National League Wild Card Game. DeBaldo also served as a sports information graduate assistant for California University of Pennsylvania in 2014-15 where he handled many of the department’s media relations and sports information duties.
Since February of 2020, DeBaldo served as a volunteer championships administrator with the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC). He assisted the Commissioner and Associate Commissioner with conference championship duties including media and website publicity, awards ceremonies, and operations and logistical aspects hosting championships. He also has served as a volunteer Sports Information Director for Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2016-17. DeBaldo began his career in 2007-08 where he served as assistant director of the Presidents’ Athletic Conference where he assisted in all facets of conference operation before joining the SCAC the following year.
“It was clear from my earliest conversations that the league is wholly committed to the NCAA Division III philosophy of promoting a healthy balance between academics and athletics,” said DeBaldo. “Throughout my career I have seen first-hand the wonderful accomplishments that many Division III student-athletes produce both in the classroom and on the fields of play, and I look forward to helping promote those achievements now within the CSAC.”
