Cedar Crest College Wins 2021-22 CSAC Institutional Academic Award
VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) is proud to announce Cedar Crest College is the recipient of the 2021-22 CSAC Institutional Academic Excellence Award. Cedar Crest earned the honor for the 2021-22 academic year with a grade-point average of 3.472. The CSAC Institutional Academic Award is given annually to the institution whose student-athletes, while competition in CSAC-sponsored sports, achieve the highest combined grade-point average for that academic year.
This is the fifth time in school history and third straight year that Cedar Crest has won the award. Cedar Crest previously won the award in 2008-09, 2009-10, 2018-19, 2020-21, and 2021-22.
Seven of 10 CSAC schools recorded a GPA of 3.00 or higher during the 2021-22 academic year, including three schools that achieved a 3.20 or higher.
“Cedar Crest College is humbled and honored to receive the CSAC Institutional Academic Award for a third-consecutive time,” said Dr. Elizabeth Meade, President of Cedar Crest College. “I am so proud of our student-athletes, who work hard every day in their academic and athletic pursuits. This award shows them that they can do it all.”
For the 2021-22 academic year, 85 Cedar Crest student-athletes were named to the CSAC All-Academic Team, achieved by earning a grade-point average of 3.20 or higher during the 2021-22 academic year. There were 38 on the CSAC Fall All-Academic Team and 47 on the CSAC Winter/Spring All-Academic Team.
“What a beautiful recognition this is for the Falcons community,” said Christy Fleagle, Cedar Crest College Director of Athletics. “I am impressed to see the commitment that the student athletes have towards academics and athletics. It’s a great time to soar with the Falcons.”
“The Institutional Academic Excellence Award is one of the most prestigious awards presented by the conference, as it proves the commitment of our schools to developing student-athletes as students first,” CSAC Commissioner Marie Stroman said. “Although we measure academic success with a grade point average, there is so much dedication behind that number. I'm proud to bestow this recognition to the Cedar Crest College student-athletes and those who support them in their academic and athletic careers.”
