2022 ALL-CSAC WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL TEAM ANNOUNCED
VILLANOVA, Pa. – In exclusive all-conference voting by the head coaches of the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC), Allison Barnes of Cairn University was voted CSAC Player of the Year. Cedar Crest College’s Rebekka Sanchez-Castro was named the CSAC Defensive Player of the Year while teammate Ellise Everett was tabbed the CSAC Rookie of the Year. Rounding out the major award winners was Cairn head coach Whitney Seidel, who was named CSAC Coach of the Year.
Barnes, a graduate student middle blocker, led the CSAC with a .356 hitting percentage while also leading the league with 3.45 kills per set. She had a league-best 35 solo blocks and ranked second with 45 total blocks. Barnes also ranked third in the CSAC with 59 total aces.
A junior libero, Sanchez-Castro helped Cedar Crest to the top seed in the CSAC Women’s Volleyball championship where she led the league in both digs/set (4.90) and total digs (338). She totaled 44 assists (0.64/set) while adding 26 service aces.
Everett, a first-year middle blocker, ranked among the league leaders with .296 hitting percentage (third) while totaling 108 kills. She led the CSAC with a league-best 0.75 blocks/set and her 42 total blocks was fourth in the conference.
Seidel led Cairn to an 18-5 overall mark in the regular season including a 7-2 record in CSAC play while guiding the Highlanders to the number three seed in the CSAC playoffs. The 18 wins are a six game improvement from a year ago while the seven conference wins are one more than Cairn tallied in 2021.
