CSAC Announces Women's Basketball End of Year Awards

VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) is proud to announce the 2021-22 All-CSAC Women’s Basketball team. The team, comprised of players from all ten CSAC institutions that sponsor women’s basketball, was voted upon by the coaches in the league who were not permitted to vote for their own players.

The team includes first, second and honorable mention All-CSAC, Player, Defensive and Rookie of the Year, as well as Coach of the Year and the 3-D Award. Also, players were nominated for the All-Sportsmanship team by their respective coaches.

Player of the Year went to Clarks Summit University senior guard Elizabeth Singleton (Schenectady, N.Y.). She is the second player from Clarks Summit to win the award, as Kacee Rava won the award during the 2011-12 season. She leads the team in scoring with 20.1 points per game and rebounds at 11 per contest. She scored a season high 32 points against PSU-Worthington on November 10, while also grabbing a season-high 20 rebounds against Valley Forge on January 26.

Defensive Player of the Year went to Notre Dame of Maryland senior forward Daija Fitchett (Baltimore, Md.). This is the second straight time she has won the award, winning it during the 2019-20 season. She leads the team with 13.9 rebounds per game and has a team-high 51 blocks. In a game at Cairn on January 26, she had a season-high 22 rebounds and six blocks.

Rookie of the Year went to Saint Elizabeth first-year guard Destiny Battle (East Orange, N.J.) and Notre Dame first-year guard Alexis Durham (Plumas Lake, Calif.). Battle is the first Saint Elizabeth player to win the award in women’s basketball while Durham is the second straight Notre Dame player to win the award, joining Ayana Brim who won it during the 2019-20 season. Durham is tied for the team lead in scoring at 14.3 points per game and leads the squad with 41 made three pointers. Durham scored a season high 28 points against Clarks Summit on January 12. Battle leads the Eagles in scoring with 20.6 points per game. She scored a season-high 29 points against Rosemont on February 12.

Coach of the Year went to Notre Dame of Maryland head coach Kalin Wynn. He is the first coach from Notre Dame to win the award in women’s basketball. This year, he led the Gators to a 13-9 overall record and 13-5 mark in the CSAC, good enough for the third seed in the upcoming playoffs.

The 3-D Award was given to The University of Valley Forge. Implemented for the 2011-12 academic year, the Colonial States Athletic Conference 3D Award replaced the CSAC Team Sportsmanship Award. The 3D Award recognizes the teams in each sport that best demonstrate the NCAA Division-III philosophy of "Discover, Develop, Dedicate." The 3D Award was conceived and developed by the CSAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). This is the first time that Valley Forge has won the award in women’s basketball.
