CSAC Announces Weekly Award Winners for April 11, 2022

VILLANOVA, Pa - The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) is proud to announce the Weekly Award winners for April 11, 2022. This includes Players of the Week in Men’s Lacrosse, Women’s Lacrosse, Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field, Women’s Tennis, Softball and Baseball as well as Honor Roll selections in each sport.
 
A total of forty-three student-athletes were honored.
 
Men’s Lacrosse
Player of the Week
Jonathan Balsamo | Cairn University | A | So. | Manorville, N.Y./Eastport South Manor
 
Scored five goals in a win over Bryn Athyn, Cairn’s first win in CSAC play in men’s lacrosse.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Nico Cione | Cairn University | GK | Fr. | Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury

Made 11 saves and caused three turnovers in Cairn’s win over Bryn Athyn.

Honor Roll
Keystone’s Gabe Reyes who became the all-time leader in caused turnovers in Keystone history with three against Montclair. He now has 56 in his career…Montclair’s Tyler McCreery who had seven goals in two games, including two against Keystone…Stockton’s Luc Swedlund who had eight goals in a win over Mary Washington…Keystone’s Angel Rodriguez who made six saves in an emergency start on Friday…Kean’s Steven Thorne who had eight caused turnovers in two games…Montclair’s David Metzger who had 20 saves across two games…Stockton’s Eric Lindskog who made 11 saves in 51 minutes against Mary Washington.
 
Women’s Lacrosse
Player of the Week
Jade Stewart | Notre Dame of Maryland University | M | Fr. | Hagerstown, Md./Saint Maria Goretti Catholic
 
Posted 17 points on 11 assists and six goals. Had four goals and seven assists in a win over Wilson.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Kaylah Bailey | Sweet Briar College | M | Jr. | Virginia Beach, Va./Frank W. Cox

Picked up eight draw controls in the win over Centenary.

Honor Roll
Keystone’s Krista Strausser who had six goals, four ground balls, four draw controls and two caused turnovers against Notre Dame on Saturday…Sweet Briar’s Valen Foster who had seven goals on the week, including five against Centenary…Wilson’s Michaela Singer who had seven goals and three assists in a 1-1 week for the Phoenix…Keystone’s Maria Tomada who had ten draw controls against Notre Dame of Maryland…Cedar Crest’s Mira Carver who had 19 saves against Wilson…Notre Dame of Maryland’s Sarah Generoso who had five ground balls in two games.
 
Softball
Player of the Week
Riley Tremblay | Cedar Crest College | C/INF | Gr. | Allentown, Pa./Parkland
 
Went 7-for-14 in four games last week, including seven RBI in conference play. Against Notre Dame of Maryland, she went 5-for-8 with five RBI and had a walk-off single in game one.
 
Pitcher of the Week
BB Aquila | Cedar Crest College | RHP | Fr. | Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall
 
Picked up a win over Notre Dame of Maryland, striking out six and walking just two.

Honor Roll
Keystone’s Alyssa Booth who went .714 (5-for-7) against King’s with two runs, two RBI and one double…Cairn’s Theresa Beck who went 4-for-7 in a doubleheader against Gwynedd Mercy…Wilson’s Jenna Carty who went 3-for-6 with a home run in the split against Cedar Crest…Notre Dame of Maryland’s Bethani Newbold who had six hits last week…Keystone’s Courtney Cienki who had five strikeouts against King’s.  
 
 
Baseball
Player of the Week
KJ Curry | Wilson College | SS | Sr. | Bowie, Md./Coker University
 
Went 9-for-17 with six runs scored and four stolen bases to lead Wilson to a 3-1 week.
 
Pitcher of the Week
Cam Nolet | Cairn University | LHP | Sr. | Annapolis, Md./USC-Aiken  

Went nine innings allowing just two hits, while fanning 18 in a 2-0 win over Valley Forge.

Honor Roll
Keystone’s RJ Gouldsbury who went 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI double against Rutgers-Camden…Cairn’s Tyler Warr who led the Highlander offense with three hits against Lancaster Bible…Saint Elizabeth’s Jacob Pipercic who went 5-for-9 during the week, with two stolen bases. Also added in a single, triple and two home runs…Cairn’s Ronaldhino Alcin who got the win over Lancaster Bible by scattering five hits in five innings…Keystone’s Pat Adamski who tossed three scoreless innings in relief at Rutgers-Camden.
 
Women’s Tennis
Player of the Week
Lily Spagnola | Cedar Crest College | So. | Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat
 
Spagnola went a perfect 4-0 on the week over two matches for the Falcons. She started the week with a three-set win at No. 4 singles at Bryn Athyn along with an 8-1 win at the second doubles spot. Spagnola then finished with another two wins against Penn State Berks. She was victorious at second doubles, which came down to a tiebreaker and then won her match at No. 4 singles by scores of 7-6 (10-6) and 7-5.
 
Honor Roll
Cairn’s Ersy Neal who picked up a 6-0, 6-0 shuotut victory at No. 3 singles and paired with senior Sarah Jackson to score an 8-0 shutout in the No. 1 doubles slot against Rosemont on Friday.
 
Men’s Track and Field
Track Athlete of the Week
Eric Stehlik | Penn State-Behrend | Sr. | Northport, N.Y./Northport
Eric Stehlik finished the weekend earning gold in the 400m and silver in the 200m. Stehlik ran a 51.16 to place first in the 400m and finished in 22.62 in the 200m for second.


Field Athlete of the Week
Dylan Perlino | Alfred State University | Sr. | Holland, N.Y./Holland
Dylan Perlino won discus with an AARTFC qualifying mark of 48.28m and took second in hammer with an AARTFC qualifying mark of 51.25m at the Cortland Red Dragon Open.
 
Honor Roll
Gallaudet’s Eric Gregory who won the 100-meter dash at the Bison’s home invitational with a time of 10.76, then was part of the winning 4x1 meter relay team with a time of 43.24…Alfred State’s Gavin Bathgate won the 5000-meters in 15:39.56 at the Cortland Red Dragon Open.
 
Women’s Track and Field
Track Athlete of the Week
Olivia Nola | Penn State Behrend | Fr. | Erie, Pa./Collegiate Academy
Olivia Nola earned gold this past weekend at Westminster, pacing all others in the 5k at 18:32.40. Nola also took 11th place in the 800m which would set the top time in the CSAC at 2:26.71. Nola was also a part of the 4x400m relay that set a new benchmark for the conference.
 
Field Athlete of the Week
Emma Taggart | Alfred State College | Jr. | New Winsdor, Md./Francis Scott Key
 
Taggart won the heptathlon at the Cortland Red Dragon Open with an AARTFC qualifying score of 3652 points.
On Saturday, Taggart won the heptathlon high jump (1.56m) and shot put (10.78m) and came in second in the 100-meter hurdles (15.81) and 200-meters (28.91). On Sunday, she was second in long jump (4.55m), third in the 800-meters (2:53.89) and third in javelin (16.15m).
 
Honor Roll
Cedar Crest’s Brittney Dunleavy who registered two personal and one program record at the Ursinus Outdoor Invitational. She tallied the program record in the 100-meter dash, finishing in a time of 14.40 seconds. Her other personal record came in the 400-meter dash, crossing the line in 1:12.65…Cedar Crest’s Kelsey Schouppe who recorded a top-five finish in the discus event at the Ursinus Outdoor Invitational, placing fourth with a mark of 32.14 meters…Penn State Behrend’s Caroline Upham who took silver this past weekend in the high jump, registering a leap of 1.50m. This marked the second-straight meet Upham finished in the top three in the event…Gallaudet’s Hannah Wetzel who won the high jump as she cleared 1.53 meters and finished third in the triple- and long jump with top leaps of 10.64 meters and 5.07 meters, respectively.
