Wilson Picked First in 2023 CSAC Softball Coaches Poll
The Phoenix collect five first-place votes.
VILLANOVA, Pa. – Wilson College was selected as the favorite in the 2023 Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) preseason poll conducted among the league’s softball coaches.
After securing the program’s first win in NCAA Tournament history last spring, the Phoenix are selected top of the CSAC poll with 72 points and 5 first-place votes.
The Rosemont Ravens fell to Wilson in the CSAC Championship last spring but came in a close second in the preseason poll with 69 points and 3 first-place votes. Cedar Crest earned the No. 3 seed in last spring’s CSAC Championship and start off in the same spot this season earning 66 points.
Keystone College made the CSAC Championships last season as the No. 5 seed and move one spot higher to No. 4 in the preseason poll with 54 points. Saint Elizabeth earned 1 first-place vote and 51 points in the preseason poll to round out the Top 5.
Notre Dame of Maryland University earned 35 points and begin in the sixth position of the preseason poll. Cairn University slides into the 7
th position with 27 points.
Clarks Summit received 20 points and Valley Forge received 11 points to sit 8
th and 9
th, respectively.
Initial games begin the week of February 27
th with Valley Forge hosting Yeshiva University for a doubleheader on Thursday, March 2
nd. The weekend of March 3-5, Wilson and Notre Dame (MD) visit Gallaudet, Keystone visits the University of Scranton, Valley Forge hosts Baruch College, Notre Dame (MD) visits Washington College, and Rosemont begins their spring break trip in Myrtle Beach, SC.
CSAC league games begin on Saturday, April 1 as each team plays a doubleheader against the other CSAC opponents for an 18-game schedule.
The CSAC Softball Championships will take place May 3-6, 2023. The top five teams qualify for the playoffs with the No. 4 vs. No. 5 facing off in a one-game elimination to take place prior to the four-team double-elimination tournament to take place on Friday and Saturday, May 5-6.
The winner of the CSAC Tournament Championship will earn the NCAA Automatic Qualifier to the NCAA Division III Softball Championships. Selection Sunday will occur on Sunday, May 7
th with opening round opponents and location to be determined.
