CSAC Announces Weekly Award Winners for March 13, 2023
VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) has announced its Players of the Week for March 13, 2023. This includes Players of the Week in Men’s Volleyball, Baseball, Softball, Men’s Lacrosse, and Women’s Lacrosse as well as Honor Roll selections in each sport.
This week’s selections included contests from Monday, March 6 through Sunday, March 12. A total of 31 student-athletes were recognized for their performances.
Men’s Volleyball
Offensive Player of the Week
Xavier Webber | FY. | Wilson College | OB | Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin East
Webber led the Wilson offense as the Phoenix went 3-1 on the week. He reached double-figures in all four contests with 11 kills against Neumann, 15 in a five-set come from behind win against Mount Aloysius, 15 more in another five-set win against Valley Forge to open CSAC play, and 14 in a non-conference match against Valley Forge. He hit .303 and .345 in the two matched with UVF and served six aces in the three wins, with four coming against Mount Aloysius. He added double-digit digs in the first three matches to tally six double-doubles on the season.
Defensive Player of the Week
Noah Wickenheiser | Sr. | Wilson College | Libero | Cresco, Pa. / Notre Dame
Wickenheiser averaged double figures in digs in four matches last week as the Phoenix went 3-1. Against Neumann, Wickenheiser had 13 digs and then set a new career-high with 24 digs in a five-set win over Mount Aloysius. He added 20 more digs in two wins over Valley Forge to start CSAC play on Saturday. Wickenheiser currently sits 2
nd in the CSAC averaging 2.52 Digs per Set.

Josh Adler handed out a season-high 52 assists with zero set errors or ball-handling errors, had 11 digs, and served 2 aces in the 3-1 victory over Eastern. This is the most assists in a match by a CSAC player this season
. Josh Moyer had 13 digs against Eastern…Lancaster Bible’s
Jake Rotelle picked up 4 kills, 2 aces and 6 digs vs. Rutgers-Newark and 8 kills and 3 aces in a win vs. Bryn Athyn; their first win in CSAC play.
Tanner Shertzer had 6 digs and 13 assists vs. Neumann and another 5 digs vs. Bryn Athyn…Valley Forge’s
Toby Harris hit .571 with 13 kills, 12 digs and 2 aces vs. Wilson while
Nathan Whisman tallied 16 kills, 2 blocks & 7 digs……
Baseball
Player of the Week
Ethan Wood | So. | Rosemont College | 1B | Lumberton, NJ / Rancocas Valley Regional HS
In three games against King’s College and two against Neumann University, Wood went a combined 12-for-18 (.667 BA). Over those games, Wood scored 7 runs and had 7 RBI in addition to 6 doubles and a triple. Playing First Base, Wood was errorless in five games and recorded 28 putouts. On the season, Wood is now hitting .557; good for 3
rd in the CSAC (minimum 15 At-Bats).
Pitcher of the Week
Chris Baumann | So. | Wilson College | LHP | Snow Hill, Md. / Snow Hill HS
Baumann picked up the Win on Saturday against St. Mary’s (MD). The 2021-22 CSAC Rookie of the Year struck out a season-high nine batters while allowing 1 earned run in 5 innings of work to improve to 2-0. The Phoenix are 4-0 in games that Baumann has started and he currently leads the CSAC with 21 strikeouts on the season.

Bryan Stimpson added a scoreless inning of relief with a pair of strikeouts…Wilson’s
Doc Daniels hit .500 (5-for-10) on the week with two doubles in a 6-5 win over Rutgers-Newark and picked up another double in a win over St. Mary’s (MD)…
Softball
Player of the Week
Sara Castillo | Jr. | Clarks Summit University | C | Schenectady, NY. / Homeschooled
Castillo led the Defenders at the plate hitting .563 over their Spring Break week in South Carolina. Over the week, Castillo collected 9 Hits in 16 At-Bats including 3 doubles, a homerun, 9 RBI and slugging percentage of .938 for the six games. Castillo also caught five of the six games and played an errorless 3
rd base in the other game.
Pitcher of the Week
Clare Johns | FY. | Keystone College | P | Skippack, Pa. / Perkiomen Valley HS
Johns earned a two-hit shutout win in her collegiate debut in Sunday’s 16-0 win over SUNY Canton. In the run-rule shortened game, Johns threw five innings, struck out nine batters, and allowed two hits and one walk.

Renee Snyder batted .455 with 10 hits, including one triple, one RBI, 12 total bases, and six runs scored plus 2-for-2 on stolen bases and a 1.000 fielding percentage in the opening week for the Falcons while
Corinne Mundy picked up 12 strikeouts in six appearances as she tossed four complete games… Keystone’s
Kabrina Birmingham went 2-for-3 with two triples, four RBI, and three runs scored in the Giants season-opening 16-0 win over SUNY Canton…Rosemont’s
Lauren Begg had 11 singles, 3 doubles, a triple, scored 5 runs, went 5-for-5 on stolen bases and picked up a complete game Win on the mound as the Ravens opened their season with Spring Break games…
Men’s Lacrosse
Offensive Player of the Week
Jamal White | Jr. | Bryn Athyn College | A | Philadelphia, Pa. / Springfield Township HS
White opened the Lions season by accounting for half the scores by either goal or assist in the 20-4 win over La Roche. White netted five goals on 9 shots on goal, handed out five assists, and picked up four ground balls.
Defensive Player of the Week
Cody Dembski | FY | Keystone College | FO/M | Agoura Hills, Ca. / Agoura HS
Dembski finished the week with 14 ground balls and went 33-for-57 (58%) at faceoffs in the two games this week.

Jade Stewart | So. | Notre Dame College | M | Hagerstown, Md. / Saint Maria Goretti Catholic HS
Stewart set a new career high for goals in a game, scoring nine times against Thiel College. The next game, she scored five times and handed out a pair of assists in the game against Lancaster Bible College. Additionally, she won 17 draw controls in the two matches.

Jill Ahlgren | Jr. | Wilson College | M | Mercersburg, Pa. / Mercersburg HS
The midfielder’s defense was on display in the Phoenix’s two wins last week. In a come-from-behind 8-6 win at Mount Aloysius, Ahlgren caused three turnovers, picked up five ground balls, and had 10 draw controls. She followed up by hitting double-digits in draw controls again with 11, caused seven turnovers and picked up 10 ground balls at La Roche. Additionally, she added 11 goals and three assists.
