Penn-St. Behrend Picked First in CSAC Women's Track & Field Coaches Poll
							
					
											
					VILLANOVA, Pa. – Penn State-Behrend was selected as the favorite in the 2023 Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) preseason poll conducted among the league’s women’s track & field coaches.
 
Behrend collected four first-place votes for a total of 34 points and a first-place finish in the preseason poll.  The Lions won their fifth title in 2022 over the past six seasons accumulating 246 points in the CSAC Championship meet.
 
Alfred State College comes in a close second place with 32 points and two first-place votes.  Last season’s runner-up looks to close the gap on the Lions.
 
Gallaudet picked up 22 votes for a third-place finish while Cedar Crest collected 20 points for a fourth-place slot.  Keystone accumulated 11 votes and Notre Dame (MD) picked up 7 votes to round out the six outdoor track & field programs.
 
Initial outdoor meets began on Saturday, March 18
th with Keystone and Cedar Crest at the King’s College Monarch Invite.  Penn St.-Behrend opens outdoor season Friday and Saturday, March 24-25
th at Carnegie Mellon while Gallaudet begins outdoor season at Christopher Newport’s Blue & Silver Challenge on March 25
th.  Notre Dame (MD) opens on Friday, March 24
th at the Goucher College Blue and Gold Classic.  Alfred St. opens outdoor season on Saturday, April 1
st at SUNY-Geneseo.
 
The CSAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships are set for Saturday, May 6
th and Sunday, May 7
th hosted by Gallaudet University in Washington D.C. 
 
NCAA Division III Championships are hosted by St. John Fisher University at the Polisseni Track and Field Complex in Rochester, NY on May 25-27, 2023.  National qualifiers will be released on Friday, May 19
th.
