CSAC Announces Weekly Award Winners for March 28, 2023

VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) has announced its Players of the Week for March 28, 2023. This includes Players of the Week in Men’s & Women’s Outdoor Track & Field and Women’s Tennis as well as Honor Roll selections in each sport.

This week’s selections included contests from Monday, March 13 through Sunday, March 26. A total of 9 student-athletes were recognized for their performances.
 
Men’s Track & Field
Track Athlete of the Week
Eric Gregory | Jr. | Gallaudet University | Sprints | Metairie, La. / East Jefferson HS
Gregory the All-American sprinter from Gallaudet University made a splash in his outdoor season debut. Gregory, the 2022 USTFCCCA National Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year, won the 400-meter dash in 48.60 seconds and finished third in the 100-meter dash (11.28) at the Blue and Silver Challenge last Saturday hosted by Christopher Newport University. GU's 4x100 meter relay team broke a school record with a time of 42.58 seconds to best the previous best time of 42.59 seconds set in 2019. Gregory was part of both record-setting relay teams. Gregory ran the third leg of the 4x100 meter relay on Saturday. GU also came from behind to beat CNU in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:28.30 seconds. Gregory ran the third leg and made up time for the Bison as he finished the split in just over 47 seconds.
 
Field Athlete of the Week
Andrew Bibbs | So. | Gallaudet University | Jumps | Columbia, S.C. / South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind
Bibbs was Gallaudet's best jumper last Saturday at the Blue and Silver Challenge hosted by Christopher Newport University. Bibbs finished third in the triple jump (11.35 meters), third in the high jump (1.75 meters) and seventh in the long jump (5.63 meters).

Honor Roll
Penn St-Behrend’s Anand Bhambhwani placed 11th in the 110m hurdles in 16.28 at the CMU Invitational on Saturday.  He also took second place in the high jump at 1.87m while Sam Hetrick won the high jump clearing a height of 2.02m…
 
Women’s Track & Field
Track Athlete of the Week
Jonquil Loeffelholz | So. | Cedar Crest College | Distance | Bellingham, Wa. / Sehome HS
Loeffelholz improved her own school record in the 5000 meters at the Jim Taylor Invitational hosted by Susquehanna University.  Her time of 21:27.07 cut over 5 seconds off the previous program record, set last year.  Loeffelholz also competed in the 1500 at the Monarch Invitational, hosted by King’s College. 
 
Field Athlete of the Week
Kelsee Schouppe | Sr. | Cedar Crest College | Throws | Stroudsburg, Pa. / Stroudsburg HS
Schouppe started the season with a pair of top-five finishes in the shot put and discus while just missing the top-five with a sixth-place finish in the hammer throw at the Monarch Invitational. She had a mark of 9.91 meters in the shot put, 30.75 meters in the discus and 34.93 meters in the hammer throw. At the Jim Taylor Invitational, she registered a mark of 10.17 meters in the shot put, 31.73 meters in the hammer throw, and took eighth in the discus event with a mark of 32.33 meters, defeating multiple Division I and II athletes.

Honor Roll
Gallaudet’s Hannah Wetzel improved on her own school record in the triple jump with a mark of 11.16 meters (36 feet and 7.5 inches) and also took first place in the long jump (5.00 meters)… Penn St.-Behrend’s Julie Balaski broke the school record and finished first in the javelin (38.10m) in her first collegiate track & field meet while Ivy Laffan competed in a pair of events this weekend at CMU, coming in 10th in the 400m (1:01.96) and 14th in the 200m (28.16)  …
