CSAC Announces Weekly Award Winners for April 11, 2023
VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) has announced its Players of the Week for April 4, 2023. This includes Players of the Week in Men’s & Women’s Outdoor Track & Field and Women’s Tennis as well as Honor Roll selections in each sport.
This week’s selections included contests from Monday, April 3 through Monday, April 10. A total of 17 student-athletes were recognized for their performances.
Men’s Track & Field
Track Athlete of the Week
Derek Walter | Sr. | Alfred State College | Decathlon | Lancaster, N.Y. / Lancaster HS
Derek Walter competed in the Susquehanna Multi & Easter Invite where he finished in 10th place with an AARTFC-qualifying 5239 points in his first career decathlon. On Thursday, Walter finished the 100m (4
th; 11.29), long jump (11
th, 5.98m), shot put (12
th, 8.85m), and 400m (6
th, 52.49). On Friday, Walter finished the 100m Hurdles (7
th, 16.55), discus (16
th, 18.71m), pole vault (12
th, 2.75m), javelin (6
th, 43.11m), and 1500m (7
th, 4:53.02).
Field Athlete of the Week
Dan Dabrowski | Jr. | Penn St.- Behrend | Discus | Harborcreek, Pa. / Harbor Creek HS
Dabrowski won the Men’s Discus with a throw of 51.13 meters at the John Homon Open hosted by Mt. Union on Friday. Dabrowski set a new Behrend program record with that throw and won the event by almost two meters. His throw of 51.13 is the 4
th-farthest throw in NCAA Division III currently.

Eric Gregory set new top marks across the CSAC in the 100-meter (10.58), 200-meter (20.90), and 400-meter (47.43), sweeping the trio of sprinting events while
Cotis Martinez took 3
rd in the javelin (39.03m) and 8
th in the discus (33.35m) at the Bison Classic… Keystone’s
Adrian Viruet threw the javelin 49.27m, the longest throw in the CSAC this season… Penn St.-Behrend’s
Blake Burns had an AARTFC-qualifying mark in the 110-meter hurdles (15.05) to place second at the Mt. Union Invitational on Friday…

Emma Taggart | Sr. | Alfred State College | Heptathlon | New Windsor, Md. / Francis Scott Key HS
Emma Taggart competed in the Susquehanna Multi & Easter Invite, completing the heptathlon in 5th place with an AARTFC-qualifying 3985 points. On Thursday, Taggart competed in the 100m hurdles (4
th, 15.79), shot put (1
st, 10.57m), high jump (2
nd, 1.55m), and 200m (8
th, 27.80). On Friday, Taggart competed in the long jump (6
th, 4.98m), javelin (14
th, 16.79m), and 800m (8
th, 2:40.30).

Allyson Frank | FY | Keystone College | Throws | Rio Rancho, N.M. / V. Sue Cleveland HS
Frank competed in three events on Tuesday’s Misericordia Twilight meet, placing seventh in the javelin, eighth in the discus and 10
th in the shot put. At this point in the season, Frank has Top 10 marks in all three of those throws, including a 30.16m throw in the discus, good for third-best in the CSAC.

Hannah Wetzel took 9
th in the 200-meter with a time of 27.31 and finished 4
th in the long jump with a mark of 5.05 meters while
Midajah Davis won the shot put with a toss of 12.32m at the Bison Classic hosted by Gallaudet University and Howard University at the Thomas O. Berg Track on Gallaudet’s campus… Penn St.-Behrend’s
Savanna Carr hit an AARTFC qualifying time of 18:26.91 in the 5000-meters and
Julia Balaski won the javelin with a toss of 37.66m at the John Homon Open hosted by Mt. Union…
Women’s Tennis
Athlete of the Week
Katherine Franzone | Jr. | Cedar Crest College | Mount Bethel, Pa. / Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School
Franzone finished the week with a 4-2 record. In the match against Clarks Summit, she teamed up with Lily Spagnola for an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles and then followed with a 7-6, 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles. Franzone then picked up another pair of wins in the Falcons' 7-2 triumph at Saint Elizabeth. She earned an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles and then picked up a win at No. 2 singles that went to a super tiebreaker (3-6, 6-4, 10-6).
