CSAC Announces Weekly Award Winners for April 24, 2023
VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) has announced its Players of the Week for April 24, 2023. This includes Players of the Week in Baseball, Softball, Men’s Lacrosse, and Women’s Lacrosse as well as Honor Roll selections in each sport.
This week’s selections included contests from Monday, April 17 through Sunday, April 23. A total of 30 student-athletes were recognized for their performances.
Baseball
Player of the Week
Griffin Yastremski | So. | Keystone College | OF/P | Bath, N.Y. / Haverling HS
Yastremski led Keystone at the plate as the Giants took the series from Wilson this past weekend in the showdown of the CSAC’s top two teams. Yastremski went 4-for-7 with 4 RBI, a double, a home run, a hit-by-pitch, 2 runs scored, and 5 walks over the 3-game series. Including the midweek win over Susquehanna, he hit .556 during the week (5-for-9) with two home runs, 7 RBI, 7 walks, and 5 runs scored. Yastremski leads Keystone and is tied for the CSAC lead with 7 home runs on the season. He is also in the Top 10 of the CSAC in Slugging Percentage (4
th; 0.773), On Base Percentage (9
th; 0.518), and OPS (5
th; 1.291).
Pitcher of the Week
Brayan Villar | Sr. | Keystone College | RHP | West Orange, N.J. / Belleville HS
In this weekend’s showdown of the top two teams in the CSAC, Villar earned the Win in Saturday's opener going six-plus innings, scattering six hits, and striking out four. Villar threw 105 pitches, striking out four, and causing six flyouts and five groundouts. He is currently tied for 3
rd in the CSAC with four victories this season and is tied for 5
th with 33 total strikeouts.

Dylan Jackson went 9-for-20 at the plate with 3 home runs, including two against Centenary (NJ) on Wednesday, accumulated 9 RBI and scored 9 runs. He also pitched five innings in a no-decision against Ramapo on Tuesday, giving up three hits, two earned runs, and striking out five.
Joe Battaglia got the win against Clarks Summit after 6.0 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 3 K while also striking out the side in a relief appearance against Centenary (NJ) on Wednesday… Rosemont’s
Derek Shillingsford went a perfect 8-for-8 with 9 RBI over the DH on Saturday vs. Valley Forge… Wilson’s
Alex Seidleck went a combined 6-for-10 with 4 RBI and 3 runs scored in the three-game series with Keystone…
Softball
Player of the Week
Aimee Vega | Jr. | Saint Elizabeth University | INF | Elizabeth, N.J. / Benedictine Academy
Vega led Saint Elizabeth at the plate as the Eagles went 5-1 on the week, including a perfect 4-0 in CSAC play to jump up into 3
rd place in the standings going into the final games this week. Vega hit .588 (10-for-17) over the week with 9 RBI, 7 runs scored, 3 home runs, 4 doubles, and 4 walks. In the doubleheader with Notre Dame (MD), Vega homered in the first game to take the lead and earn the win 2-1 and homered once again in game two as the Eagles won 3-2. Her third home run of the week came against Wilson in Game 1 to tie it up before the team went on to earn a 7-3 victory. Vega currently leads the CSAC with 4 Home Runs, 26 RBI, and 11 doubles.
Pitcher of the Week
Kaitlynne McCarthy | Jr. | Saint Elizabeth University | P | Woodbridge, N.J. / Woodbridge HS
The Eagles went 5-1 on the week with McCarthy earning 4 wins and a save. In 28 total innings pitched, McCarthy had 14 strikeouts while only allowing 10 runs; 8 of them earned. In the doubleheader with Wilson on Saturday, McCarthy went 14.0 IP, with 5 strikeouts and 4 earned runs allowed. McCarthy is atop the CSAC leaderboard in the following categories: ERA (3

Corinne Mundy went 3-1 on the week in the circle tossing 3 complete games, striking out seven over four appearances… Keystone’s
Mara Brooks hit .615 (8-for-13) this week with 2 RBI and 5 walks while
Courtney Cienki threw 20 innings with 16 strikeouts… Rosemont’s
Lauren Begg hit .800 (12-for-15) in four conference games this week with a double, a triple, 3 RBI, 8 runs scored, and 8 stolen bases. Begg also picked up two wins in the circle, scattering 8 hits and 0 runs against in the two starts… Wilson’s
Alyssa Wenger had 4 RBI, 3 runs scored, a double, and a triple while
Makenna Snodgrass struck out 15 batters in 16.2 innings pitched over the week…

Dennis finished the week with 6 goals, 5 assists and 23 ground balls with 9 caused turnovers. Dennis had 3 goals, 3 assists, 14 ground balls, and 6 caused turnovers in the victory over Cairn to secure the 1-seed in the upcoming CSAC playoffs. Dennis is 3
rd in the CSAC in Ground Balls per Game (5.92), 5
th in Caused Turnovers per Game (1.75), 4
th in Assists per Game (1.75), 5
th in Points per Game (3.83), 5

Defensive Player of the Week

Ragan led the Lions to a 1-1 week scooping up 24 ground balls while forcing 9 turnovers. He also added 3 goals and 3 assists. Ragan is 2
nd in the CSAC in groundball total (81), Ground Balls per Game (10.13), and ranks first in Caused Turnovers per Game (3.25).

Cody Dembski totaled 32 ground balls, going 38-for-54 on faceoffs this week, and leads the CSAC with 198 faceoff wins this season…

Offensive Player of the Week
Maddie Graham | So. | Cedar Crest College | Attack | Clayton, De. / Smyrna HS
Graham had an 11-point week in three games for the Falcons, highlighted by back-to-back five-point performances. She opened the week with a goal against Wilson followed by two-straight five-point performances; 5 goals against Eastern and 4 goals and an assist against Notre Dame (Md.). Over the three games, she had 3 ground balls, 1 caused turnover, and 10 draw controls. Graham is 3
rd overall in the CSAC in total goals (37) and Goals per Game (3.70) as well as 5
th in Points per Game (4.50).
Defensive Player of the Week
Jill Ahlgren | Jr. | Wilson College | M | Mercersburg, Pa. / Mercersburg HS
Ahlgren totaled 16 ground balls, 10 caused turnovers, and 19 draw controls in two games this week. Ahlgren is the current NCAA Division III leader in Caused Turnovers per Game with a 4.75 average, with the next closest student-athlete at 3.73 Caused Turnovers per Game. Ahlgren also ranks 3
rd in NCAA Division III with Ground Balls per Game at a 6.50 average.
