CSAC Announces Weekly Award Winners for April 25, 2023

VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) has announced its Players of the Week for April 25, 2023. This includes Players of the Week in Men’s & Women’s Outdoor Track & Field and Women’s Tennis as well as Honor Roll selections in each sport.

This week’s selections included contests from Monday, April 17 through Monday, April 24. A total of 9 student-athletes were recognized for their performances.
 
Men’s Track & Field
Track Athlete of the Week
Eric Gregory | Jr. | Gallaudet University | Sprints | Metairie, La. / East Jefferson HS
Gregory won two events last Saturday at the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational as he came in first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.49 seconds and the 400-meter dash (48.21). The 100-meter dash event had 60 participants representing all divisions (I, II, III, JUCO) while the 400-meter dash had a field of 51.  Gregory’s time of 10.49 seconds in the 100-meter dash is currently the 10th-best mark in NCAA Division III this season while his season-best in the 400-meter dash (47.43) is good for 10th in NCAA Division III.
 
Field Athlete of the Week
Cotis Martinez | So. | Gallaudet University | Throws | Turlock, Ca. / Denair HS
Martinez led the way for Gallaudet University men's track and field at the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational last Saturday in the field events where he posted a fifth-place performance in the javelin throw with a top toss of 37.78 meters (123 feet, 11 inches).  Martinez’s season-best throw of 39.03 meters is currently 4th-best in the CSAC. 
 
Women’s Track & Field
Track Athlete of the Week
Olivia Kelly | Jr. | Cedar Crest College | Distance | Medford, N.J. / shawnee HS
Kelly set the program record in the 3000-meter steeplechase at the Coach P Invitational, clocking a time of 16:43.50.  This time is currently 4th-best in the CSAC outdoor season.
 
Field Athlete of the Week
Bella Bozen | FY | Cedar Crest College | Throws | Lockport, Il. / Lockport Township HS
Bozen had a third-place finish in the discus at the Coach P Invitational, hitting a PR of 31.83 meters. That mark is the third-best mark in the conference this season.  She also recorded a mark of 9.46 meters in the shot put which is the eighth-best mark in the conference and a mark of 25.25 meters in the javelin, which is ranked seventh in the conference.
 
Honor Roll
Gallaudet’s Midajah Davis placed fifth in the shot put with a top toss of 12.12 meters and placed 33rd in the hammer throw (26.65 meters) last Saturday at the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational in Baltimore… Keystone’s Allyson Frank placed third in the discus (32.49 meters; 2nd in CSAC), fourth in the javelin (24.16 meters), and sixth in the shot put (9.03 meters) …
 
Women’s Tennis
Athlete of the Week
Ersy Neal | So. | Cairn University | Wayne, Pa. / Delaware County Christian School
Neal finished the week with a 4-0 record.  Neal earned two victories against Clarks Summit on Wednesday, first at No.1 doubles with Paige Kemper (8-0) and then at No. 3 singles (6-1, 6-1).  On Saturday against NDMU, Neal and Kemper paired at No. 1 doubles for an 8-2 victory and then followed up with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles.
 
Honor Roll
Cedar Crest’s Katie Browning earned two non-conference victories against Neumann, teaming with Taylor Wolf for an 8-7 (7-4) win at No. 2 doubles and then earned a 2-6, 6-4, 10-5 win at No. 3 singles… Saint Elizabeth's Dayanna Vera won at No. 1 singles vs. Bryn Athyn 4-6, 6-3, 10-7...
