CSAC Announces Weekly Award Winners for May 2, 2023
VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) has announced its Players of the Week for May 2, 2023. This includes Players of the Week in Men’s & Women’s Outdoor Track & Field as well as Honor Roll selections in each sport.
This week’s selections included contests from Monday, April 24 through Monday, May 1. A total of 10 student-athletes were recognized for their performances.
Men’s Track & Field
Track Athlete of the Week
Jason Seevers | Jr. | Penn St. - Behrend | Distance | North East, Pa. / North East HS
Seevers ran a season-best time in the 800 meters at Ashland University this weekend, clocking in at 1:58.04 to place 13
th overall. That mark is good for second-best in the CSAC this season. Seevers also has the 4
th-fastest time in the 1500 meters this season with a mark of 4:19.25.
Field Athlete of the Week
Cotis Martinez | So. | Gallaudet University | Throws | Turlock, Ca. / Denair HS
Martinez won the javelin throw with a top toss of 41.92 meters (137 feet, 6 inches) last Saturday at the Gallaudet University Invitational. His toss was four meters more than his top mark set on the previous weekend. Martinez placed seventh in the discus with a throw of 34.11 meters (111 feet, 11 inches). Both marks are new season-bests for Martinez and are in the Top 10 in the CSAC Performance List.

Track Athlete of the Week
Olivia Nola | So. | Penn St.- Behrend | Distance | Erie, Pa. / Collegiate Academy
Nola broke a 21-year-old program record, running 4:43.52 to win the 1500 meters at Ashland University. That is the new top time in the CSAC outdoor season. Nola also has season-best times in the 800 meters (2:21.90) and 5000 meters (17:54.72) while having the 5
th-best High Jump at 1.37 meters (4 feet, 6 inches).
Field Athlete of the Week
Hannah Wetzel | Sr. | Gallaudet University | Jumps | Fremont, Ca. / California School for the Deaf-Fremont
Wetzel finished first or second in five different events at the Gallaudet University Invitational and broke a school record in the process. Wetzel broke her school record in the triple jump with a top leap of 11.27 meters to win the event. The old mark was 11.16 meters set back on March 25, 2023, at the Blue & Silver Challenge in Newport News, Va. Wetzel had a busy day as she won the long jump (5.21 meters), placed second in the high jump (1.50 meters) and took second in the 200-meter dash (26.69 seconds). She also started the running events as a member of the 4x100 meter relay team that took first place.

Kelsee Shouppe tallied a pair of school records in the discus (34.17 meters; 5th at the meet) and hammer throw (37.42 meters; 5th at the meet) and took 6th in the shot put (9.84 meteres) at the Monarch Open... Gallaudet’s
Sierra Pratt won the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 14:21.81 and finished fourth in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 5:57.94 at the Gallaudet University Invitational… Keystone’s
