CSAC Announces Women's Lacrosse End-of-Year Awards for 2023
VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) is proud to announce the 2023 All-CSAC Women’s Lacrosse team. The team, composed of players from all six CSAC institutions that sponsor women’s lacrosse, was voted upon by the coaches in the league.
The team includes All-CSAC honorees as well as Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Coach of the Year, and All-Sportsmanship honorees. The student-athletes were nominated by their coaches and voted upon by the conference’s six head coaches who were not permitted to vote for their own players.
Player of the Year went to
Bryn Athyn sophomore
Shea Gormley (Huntingdon Valley, PA / Abington HS). The midfielder finished on top of the CSAC leaderboard with a 4.08 Goals per Game average on 8.31 Shots per Game and was 2
nd in the league with 53 total goals scored on the season. Gormley was 3
rd in the league with a 4.69 Points per Game average for a total of 65 points on the season. Defensively, Gormley caused 2.15 turnovers per game, controlled 7.15 draws per game, and picked up 4.69 ground balls per game. In her first season last year, Gormley was named Rookie of the Year and was a First-Team All-CSAC midfielder.
Defensive Player of the Year went to sophomore defender
Abi Sipel (Bethlehem, PA / Freedom HS) from
Cedar Crest. Sipel finished in the Top 3 for Ground Balls per Game (4.55), total ground balls (50), Caused Turnovers per Game (2.82) and total caused turnovers (31). Sipel also contributed 8 goals and 2 assists for 10 total points on the season.
Sabrina Brock (Huntingdon Valley, PA / Academy of the New Church) from
Bryn Athyn was named Rookie of the Year. Brock had a big first season in CSAC play, finishing 2
nd in Total Points (65) and Points per Game (5.00) while leading the league in Assists (32) and Assists per Game (2.46). Brock also scored 33 goals for a 2.54 Goals per Game average.
Coach of the Year was awarded to
Ramona Walters from
Bryn Athyn College. This is the first CSAC Coach of the Year honor for Walters, who joined the Bryn Athyn staff in August of 2021. This season, Bryn Athyn finished with an 11-2 overall record including a perfect 4-0 in CSAC play and a CSAC Tournament championship.
