2001 Pre-Season Coaches' Poll

PAC Softball Coaches Tab Cabrini to Repeat

Dallas, PA- Cabrini College is a unanimous choice to repeat as the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference softball champion, according to the PAC Preseason Coaches Poll.

The Radnor-based school, already 6-2 on the season after its spring trip to Georgia, has knocked off three top-20 ranked teams, #1 and defending national champion St. Mary's of Minnesota, #3 Muskingum and #11 Roanoke.

The Cavaliers, 39-9 a year ago, received all 12 first-place votes for a total of 144 points, while last year's runner-up Misericordia finished second with 127 points.

"We are excited and honored to be selected by our peers to win the conference championship," said Cabrini head coach Bridget Baxter. "It is our goal to repeat last year's performance and we hope to live up to these expectations."

Wesley, the 1999 champ and third place finisher last season, is ranked there again with 121 points. Alvernia is fourth with 102 points, while Gwynedd-Mercy is close behind in fifth place with 101 points.

Arcadia is picked sixth with 83 points, while Immaculata (58), Neumann (56) and Marywood (53) are predicted to finish seventh through ninth.  Eastern (48), Cedar Crest (23) and Rosemont round out the final three spots.
