2004 Men's Golf Pre-Season Coaches' Poll

February 27, 2004

PAC Coaches Select Wesley as Pre-Season Golf Favorite

Aston, PA - Wesley College's men's golf team, a national powerhouse in recent seasons, has been selected as the pre-season favorite in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) coaches poll. Wesley, the five-time defending Conference Champions, was a unanimous selection, earning all eight first-place votes for a total of 64 points.

Alvernia College, which finished in third at the PAC Championships a year ago, finished second in the poll by three points. The Crusaders earned 52 points to outdistance Eastern University, selected to finish third with a total of 49 points.

“We are thrilled to have the PAC coaches honor our team as the preseason favorite," Wesley head coach Rick McCall said. "We feel we deserve to represent the PAC in this position after finishing second in the country last year. Our team is looking forward to the challenge of continuing our rich tradition here at Wesley and in the PAC."

Wesley's golfers finished one through five at last year's PAC Championships, and most of them return to the team this year. The Wolverines ended up as the NCAA Division III runner-up in 2003.

Neumann College (38), Cabrini College (32), College Misericordia (24), Gwynedd-Mercy College (16) and Arcadia University (13) rounded out the voting.

The PAC Championships will be held from April 25-26 at Bella Vista Golf Club in Gilbertsville, PA.
