PENNSYLVANIA ATHLETIC CONFERENCE (PAC) WOMEN’S & MEN’S TENNIS TOURNAMENTS TO BE HOSTED BY WEST END RACQUET CLUB in ALLENTOWN FOR NEXT THREE YEARS

Aston, PA – After a successful trial run in 2003-04, the West End Racquet Club in Allentown, PA will be the site of the PAC Women’s Tennis Tournament and the PAC Men’s Tennis Tournament for the 2004-05, 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons. The PAC will have access to at least 14 courts (eight outdoor and six indoor) to be able to conduct and complete its tournament in two days. Both tournaments crown individual champions in first through six singles and first through third doubles. The team champion is determined by round robin play during the regular season.

Previously, these tournaments were hosted and rotated at on-campus sites in the PAC. The impetus for the move to an off-campus venue was the central location of the facility to member schools and the timely availability of outdoor and indoor courts for the student-athletes in an atmosphere that is conducive for all participants.

The move to an off-campus tennis intensive site guaranteed that these tournaments were conducted in a timely, qualitative and professional manner, free of worry from issues with inclement weather,” said commissioner Tom Bonerbo. “Fernando Perez, Director of Tennis at West End Racquet Club, and his staff did a great job in 2003-04. We are very excited to continue this relationship for the next three years. The student-athletes will continue to benefit from this arrangement and be able to play their best tennis in a great environment.”

"West End Racquet Club in Allentown, PA is very excited to extend this relationship with the PAC,” said Perez. “We look forward to great events over the next three years."

The Days Inn & Conference Center Business Place (Routes 22& 309, 1151 Bulldog Drive, Allentown, PA 18104) will serve as the official hotel for the PAC Tennis Tournaments. The reservation number is (610) 395-3731 or (888) 395-5200.
