Two PAC Players Named ECAC All-Stars
College Misericordia sophomore Jennifer Gehman and Cabrini College senior Diana Frosch were both named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Southern Region All-Star Team. Gehman was the backstop for the Cougars who won their first PAC Title in seven years and fifth overall. She led the team in batting average (.489) and runs scored (48). Frosh, the Cavaliers' thirdbaseman, batted .336 with 38 hits in 113 at bats.

PAC Player wins ECAC Honors
Centerville, MA - Jennifer Gehman of College Misericordia (So, C, Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh) was named the ECAC Division III Southern Region Softball Player of the Week. Gehman hit .692 (9-13) with six runs scored, a home run, three doubles and three RBI in a 3-1 week for the Cougars.

Head Softball Coach Tracey Short Earns Win 100
Dover, DE - Head softball coach Tracey Short garnered her 100th career win in softball with Wesley's 5-0 victory over Alvernia College on Friday, April 1st. Coach Short led Wesley to their lone PAC Championship in 1999. "Winning number 100 is a milestone every coach aspires to achieve. Many excellent softball players have come through Wesley College and have been a part of the success of this team. I am honored to have had the opportunity to coach them and look forward to more wins and successful seasons," Coach Short stated.
This is Coach Short's 7th overall season at the helm of the Lady Wolverine Program. She was Wesley's head coach from 1997 to 2002, before being rehired for the 2005 season. Coach Short has also eclipsed the 100-win (136-60) plateau as head coach of the field hockey team.

PAC Players win ECAC Honors
Centerville, MA - Jessica Morgan of Wesley College (Fr, IF, New Castle, DE/St. Mark's) was named ECAC Division III Southern Player of the Week. Morgan hit an impressive .625 (9-14) with six runs scored, including a pair of homeruns. She harvested nine runs batted in as the Wolverines enjoyed a four-game sweep this week. Morgan also hit two triples on the week.
Kelli Ann Meehan of Neumann College (Fr, P, Havertown, PA/Cardinal O'Hara) was named ECAC Division III Southern co-Pitcher of the Week, along with Jennifer Pancake of Westminster College. Meehan was 2-0 with a 0.93 earned run average in 15 innings of work. She battled to put away 23 batters in total.

Cabrini Names Martine Susko New Softball Coach
Radnor, PA - Cabrini College has named Martine Susko its new head coach of softball. Susko becomes the College's 13th head coach since the program became affiliated with the NCAA. Susko replaces Karen Pelkey, who resigned earlier this summer after leading the Lady Cavaliers to a 106-28 record in her three seasons, each of which ended with Cabrini taking home the PAC Championship. "I am excited to have an opportunity as good as this one," Susko said. "It is great to join aprogram with a winning tradition, and I think Cabrini will be a good fit for me."
Susko has been an assistant coach at Drexel University, the University of Pennsylvania and Swarthmore College and was the head coach at Penn Charter for the 2002-03 seasons. She also served as the director of softball programming for Grand Slam USA.
Susko received a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from West Chester University. Cabrini captured its fifth straight PAC Championship last year and finished the season with a record of 34-12.

2005 PAC Pre-season Coaches'Poll

PAC Coaches Select Misericordia as Pre-Season Softball Favorite
Aston, PA - College Misericordia's softball team has been selected as the pre-season favorite in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) coaches poll. Misericordia received four of the 12 first-place votes for a total of 136 points, to barely hold off five-time defending champion Cabrini College, which received 135 points and six first-place votes.
Misericordia has finished as the runner-up at the PAC Tournament in each of the past six seasons. Last year, the Cougars finished first in the Conference in the regular season standings. Arcadia University finished third in the poll, receiving the other two first-place votes and a total of 125 points.
"We are honored to be picked to win the PAC," Misericordia head coach Charlotte Slocum said. "The competition in the PAC gets stronger each season. Hopefully, we will be able to live up to such lofty expectations."
Eastern University (98), Neumann College (90), Wesley College (89), Rosemont College (64), Immaculata University (58), Gwynedd-Mercy College (53), Alvernia College (41), Marywood University (32) and Cedar Crest College (15) rounded out the voting.
The PAC Championships will be held on May 4, 7-8, 2005.

CM's Gehman & Slocum take Home Individual Honors as 2005 All-PAC is Named; Neumann's Meehan Earns Rookie Nod (May 12, 2005)
Aston, PA - College Misericordia's Jennifer Gehman (So, C, Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh) was named the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Player of the Year after leading the Cougars to its first PAC title since 1998 and first NCAA Tournament bid. Gehman enters the NCAA Tournament batting .512 with 7 home runs, six doubles, eight triples and 30 runs batted in. She reached base at a clip of .570 and slugged .845. Behind the plate, Gehman has handled 137 chances with only one miscue for an average of .993.
Her coach Charlotte Slocum, was named the 2005 PAC Coach of the Year. In 25 seasons at Misericordia, Slocum has a record of 551-246 and is a member of the Cougars Hall of Fame. This season, Slocum led the Cougars to a 30-9 record and her fifth PAC title and first NCAA Tournament nod. Slocum has never suffered a losing season and has had 12 consecutive seasons of 20 or more wins with at least seven seasons of 30 or more wins. She is among the all-time leaders in Division III for career win percentage.
Kelli Ann Meehan (Fr, P, Springfield, PA/Cardinal O’Hara) of Neumann was named the 2005 PAC Rookie of the Year after leading the Knights to an improbable appearance in the PAC Tournament, advancing to the "Final Four." Meehan had a record of 13-6 with an earned run average of 2.63. In 137 innings of work, Meehan gave up only 40 earned runs with 127 strike outs, only 39 passes and tossed five shutouts for the 18 win Knights. At the plate Meehan hit .400

April 4 - Eastern University's Marcie Pentz (Jr, SS, Mickleton, NJ/KIngsway Regional) - Pentz was 4-for-7 with a double, a home run and four RBI in a 2-2 week for the Lady Eagles.
College Misericordia's Kristi Devens (Jr, Drums, PA/Bishop Hafey) - Devens was 4-0 with a 1.67 earned run average on the week. Devens struck out 11 in 21 innings of work.
April 11 - Eastern University's Ashlee Keyser (Sr, 1B, Royersford, PA/Spring-Ford)- Keyser hit .611 with six runs scored, three home runs and 11 RBI in a 6-0 week for the Lady Eagles.
Cabrini College's Angela Templin (Sr, Chester Springs, PA/Downingtown) - Templin was 2-1 with one save and a 0.75 earned run average on the week. She allowed 16 hits while striking 25 batters in 28 innings of work. Templin carried a no-hitter into the 12th inning in a win over Neumann College.
April 18 - Arcadia University's Maggie Shaeffer (Sr, C, Philadelphia, PA/Frankford) Shaeffer hit .571 (16-28) with 12 runs scored, five home runs, two doubles and 15 RBI in an 8-0 week for the Scarlet Knights. Compton also picked off three runners on the week.
Arcadia University's Jenn Compton (So, Bensalem, PA/Bensalem) - Compton was 3-0 with one save in 23 innings of work and did not allow an earned run on the week. Compton finished the week with 22 strikeouts.
April 25 - College Misericordia's Jennifer Gehman (So, C, Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh) - Gehman hit .692 (9-13) with six runs scored, a home run, three doubles and three RBI in a 3-1 week for the Lady Cougars.
Arcadia University's Jenn Compton (So, Bensalem, PA/Bensalem) - Compton was 2-0 and did not allow an earned run in 12 innings of work. Compton finished the week with 10 strikeouts to earn her second consecutive PAC Pitcher of the Week honor.
May 2 - College Misericordia's Jennifer Gehman (So, C, Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh) - Gehman hit .579 (11-19) with eight runs scored, a home run, one double, four triples and seven RBI in a 6-0 PAC week for the Lady Cougars. This was the second week in a row Gehman has been honored by the PAC.
College Misericordia's Kristi Devens (Jr, Drums, PA/Bishop Hafey) - Devens was 3-0 with a 1.85 earned run average on the week, which saw her throw a no-hitter as well.

2005 PAC Softball Tournament
Final Round (@ Misericordia)- Sunday, May 8, 2005
Game 8: (1) Misericordia 11, Arcadia 4, Cougars win PAC
Dallas, PA - The College Misericordia softball team won their first Pennsylvania Athletic Conference in seven years with an 11-7 win over Arcadia, Sunday afternoon at Anderson Field. Jen Gehman was 4-for-4 with three RBI and Megan Lee added two hits and two RBI as CM improved to 30-9. Tournament MVP Kristi Devens struck out nine to record her third win of the weekend. CM raced out to a 9-0 lead through four innings, but Arcadia stayed alive with a six-run outburst in the top of the fifth. The Cougars responded with two runs in the bottom of the sixth to put the game away.
CM grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Jen Gehman led off with a single and advanced to second on a bunt single by Kerri Buckman. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch and Gehman scored when the throw to third ricocheted off her left foot and out of play. The Cougars added three unearned runs in the second. Laura Mushinski reached on an error and advanced on a sacrifice before coming around to score on Megan Lee’s ground-rule double. Kristen Norris singled and Jen Gehman drove in two runs with a two-out single to left.
CM added four more runs in the third inning to take an 8-0 lead. Lazorka singled and went to third on Jess Klimas’ double off the leftfield fence. Devens had a sacrifice fly to left and Lee followed with an RBI-triple down the rightfield line. Jenn Compton blasted a three-run homer in the fifth for Arcadia and Cindia Lukomski and Becky Kimble added RBI-singles. Arcadia was making its first PAC finals appearance since winning the first PAC title in 1993 (Beaver). The Knights ended the season at 33-11.
Game 7: (2) Cabrini vs (3) Arcadia 9, (2) Cabrini 4
Dallas, PA - Arcadia University advanced to the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference championship game for the first time since 1993 time with a 9-4 win over Cabrini in the consolation final, Sunday morning at College Misericordia. The loss ended Cabrini’s season at 22-17 and ended the Cavaliers’ five-year reign as PAC champions.
Jen Jackson and Cindi Lukomski led the Arcadia offense with three hits each as the Scarlet Knights banged out 14 hits on the day. Jackson had a double and three RBI and Lukomski blasted a two-run homer. Danielle Discher and Laura Fencik added two hits each for the Knights who improved to 32-10. Diana Frosch had three hits to lead Cabrini. Jenn Compton scattered seven hits to earn the win.
Second Round (@ Misericordia)- Saturday, May 7, 2005
Game 3: (2) Cabrini 5, (3) Arcadia 4
Dallas, PA- The #3 seeded Arcadia Scarlet Knights (32-9) upset the #2 seeded Cabrini Cavaliers (21-16), 5-4, Saturday morning in the third game of the PAC playoffs. Arcadia used a three-run seventh inning to complete a comeback after going down 4-0 after three innings.
Cabrini broke a scoreless tie in the third inning when Diana Frosch singled home Lauren Cole and Jen Euganeo. Christina Sidiero then singled home Frosch. Mary Adam later scored on a wild pitch to put the Cavaliers up 4-0 after three innings.
Arcadia got two runs back in the top half of the fourth when Compton hit an RBI single scoring Discher. Maggie Shaeffer then followed with a sac-fly to drive in Lukomski to close the gap to 4-2.
In the top half of the seventh inning, Jenn Jackson brought the Scarlet Knights within one run with a solo home run. Becky Kimble then singled and pinch-hitter Amanda Celentano followed up with another single. After a flyout, Danielle Discher hit an RBI single to tie the game. Cindia Lukomski followed with an RBI ground-rule double to take the lead 5-4. Jenn Compton pitched a scoreless seventh to cement the comeback.
Compton picked up the win for the Scarlet Knights to improve their winning streak to 18 games, tossing a complete-game and striking out six. Arcadia will face the winner of the College Misericordia/Neumann College game at 4:00. Cabrini will face the loser of the Misericordia/Neumann game at 2:00.
Game 4: @ (1) Misericordia 5, (5) Neumann 1
Dallas, PA- The #1 seeded College Misericordia Cougars (28-9) defeated the #5 seeded Neumann College Knights (18-18), 5-1, Saturday afternoon in the fourth game of the PAC playoffs. Misericordia got on the board in the first inning when Kerri Buckman scored on an error by the left fielder. The Cougars second run came two batters later when Stephanie Myers hit an RBI single that scored Kirsten Lazorka.
Neumann came back to get one run in the top of the second when Cynthia Steigerwalt doubled and scored when Christina Walsh singled. Misericordia got some insurance with another run in the fifth when Buckman hit a two-out double that drove home pinch-runner Brittany Bradburn.
CM tacked on two more runs in the sixth when Kristi Devens hit a sacrifice fly to score Angela Grochowski. Kristen Norris then singled home Samantha Oschman. Devens was the winning pitcher for the Cougars allowing one unearned run, four hits and collecting nine strikeouts. Misericordia will face Arcadia at 4:00 while Neumann will play Cabrini at 2:00.
Game 5: (2) Cabrini 8, (5) Neumann 0 (Neumann eliminated)
Dallas, PA- The #2 seeded Cabrini College Cavaliers (22-16) defeated the #5 seeded Neumann College Knights (18-18), 8-0 in five innings, Saturday afternoon in the fifth game of the PAC playoffs.
Cabrini got on the board early scoring a run in the first inning Diana Frosch singled home Jen Euganeo who singled to lead off the inning. Cabrini added three more runs in the second inning getting an RBI from Brittany Liberatore and runs from Megan O’Brien, Christina Siderio and Brittany Caprice.
The Cavaliers added four more runs in the fifth to end the game. Angela Templin led the team on the mound pitching a three hitter and striking out four. O’Brien and Frosch led the offensively. O’Brien ended the game a perfect 3-3 with two runs scored. Frosch ended the game with two hits and two RBI’s.
Cabrini will face the loser of the Misericordia/Arcadia game on Sunday at 11:00 AM in an elimination game for a chance to play in the Championship game later that day.
Game 6: @(1) Misericordia 6, (3) Arcadia 0
Dallas, PA- College Misericordia advanced to the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference championship game for the 10th straight season with a 6-0 win over Arcadia in the winner's bracket final, Saturday at Anderson Field.
Kristi Devens struck out 10 and scattered four hits as the Cougars improved to 29-9 and snapped Arcadia's 18-game winning streak. Jen Gehman led the CM offense with a two-run triple and Jess Klimas added two hits and an RBI.
Misericordia grabbed a 1-0 lead in the second when Megan Lee hit a two-out triple in the right-centerfield game and came home to score on a error. CM added a run in the third when Kirsten Lazorka and Klimas singled and moved up on a sacrifice bunt by Laura Mushinski. Devens helped her cause whith a sacrifice fly. Kerri Buckman led of the fifth with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice before scoring on Klimas' double off the leftfield fence.
The Cougars added three insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth when Devens singled and Kristne Norris doubled to left center. Gehman drove in two runs with a triple down the rightfield line and came around to score on a throwing error. Kristin Law allowed nine hits and struck out two while absorbing the loss. Laura Fencik had a pair of hits for Arcadia while Danielle Discher and Dana Shay had one hit each.
Arcadia will face Cabrini in the loser's bracket final Sunday at 11:00 with the winner advancing to face CM for the title.
First Round- Wednesday, May 4, 2005
Game 1: @ (3) Arcadia 8, (6) Wesley 1 (Wesley eliminated)
Glenside, PA - Jenn Compton hit two home runs, knocking in four runs, and also pitched a complete game as Arcadia defeated Wesley 8-1 in the first round of the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference playoffs. The Knights (31-9 overall), who have won 17 straight games, will play Cabrini on Saturday, 5/7 at Misericordia at 10 am.
Cindi Lukomski had three hits, including a double and scored twice. Laura Fencik added a home run in the win. Arcadia bust the game open with a five-run third inning. Wesley's lone run came on a solo homer by freshman Morgan in the fourth inning. The loss dropped the Wolverines to 17-22 overall.
Game 2: (5) Neumann 5, @ (4) Eastern 2 (Eastern eliminated)
St. Davids, PA - The #5 seeded Neumann College Knights (18-17, 13-9 PAC) upset the #4 seeded Eagles of Eastern University (20-15, 17-5 PAC), 5-2, Wednesday afternoon in the first round of the PAC playoffs. A two-run RBI triple by Neumann's Kristen Lawlor started a two out, 4-run second inning for the Knights that proved to be the difference as Neumann advances to the PAC semi-finals.
With two outs in the second inning, Neuman's Christina Walsh singled up the middle followed by Traci Reed's hit by pitch to give Neumann first and second. Lawlor's shot to right field went off the glove of Eastern's Brianne Wasser and her stand up triple put the first two runs of the game on the board. An RBI single by Kimberly Zlupko scored Lawlor and another single by Erin Fagan allowed Samantha Duncan's double to put the visitors up 4-0.
The Eagles managed to get two in the sixth when Val Thompson reached on a single and Ashley Keyser walked to give Eastern first and second. Back to back singles by Stephanie Okeson and Ashley Lewis scored the only two runs for Eastern.
Neumann scored an insurance run in the 7th on an RBI single by Cynthia Steigerwalt to put the game out of reach for the Eagles. Neumann College will advance to the PAC Semi-Finals this weekend at College Misericordia.

Ithaca, NY - The College Misericordia softball team lost to Ithaca, 5-3, in the first game of the NCAA Division III Regional tournament, Friday morning at Ithaca.
Kristen Norris led the Cougars with two hits, an RBI and one run scored. Kerri Buckman, Kirsten Lazorka, Jess Klimas and Kristi Devens all had one hit. Devens scattered six hits over seven innings while suffering the loss. She walked three and struck out two and allowed four earned runs.
CM grabbed a 2-1 lead with a pair of unearned runs in the second inning. Megan Lee reached on a two-out error and Norris singled to put runners at the corners. Norris stole second and both runners scored a pair of throwing errors by the Bombers. The Cougars added a run in the fourth when Klimas led off with a single and later scored on Norris single to center.
CM, 30-10, will play a losers bracket game, Saturday at noon.
Ithaca, NY - The College Misericordia softball teams season came to an end when the Cougars split a pair of games at the NCAA East Regional in Ithaca, NY. After a 2-1, extra-inning win over second-seeded Cortland, the Cougars suffered a 2-0 loss to third-seeded Western New England to end the season at 31-11.
Western New England scored a pair of unearned runs in the top of the third for the only scoring. Kristi Devens allowed just four hits while suffering the loss. Kerri Buckman, Steph Myers and Megan Lee had the only hits for the Cougars.
In the opener, CM scored a both of their runs in the top of the eighth when Myers and Devens walked to open the inning and came around to score on Kristen Norris double to left field. Cortland managed a run in the bottom of the inning, but Devens shut the door to earn the complete game win. She scattered eight hits and struck out two.
