Rosemont Athletics Director Lynn Rothenhoefer Appointed NCAA Division III Women’s Lacrosse Committee Member and Regional Chair

Rosemont, PA – Rosemont College Athletics Director and head lacrosse coach Lynn Rothenhoefer, in her seventh year at Rosemont, learned last week that she has been named the Metro Region representative in the National Division III Women’s Lacrosse Committee; her appointment also makes her Committee Chair for her region. Rothenhoefer’s term begins immediately and will terminate September 1, 2008.

Rothenhoefer began coaching at Rosemont in 1997, when she was head coach of the Ramblers field hockey team, and Sports Information Director for the College. She instituted women’s lacrosse at Rosemont in 1998, after the team competed for one year at the club level. In 2003, the Ramblers enjoyed an 11-7 season, and their first-ever Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) playoff bid.

Rothenhoefer’s new position as National Committee member and Metro Region Chair/Representative is part of the NCAA’s Sports and Rules Committees, which “oversee the conduct of the NCAA championship in their respective sport and division,” according to NCAA committee administration information. She will also have a hand in formulating and administering rules for the sport.

As Metro Region Chair, Coach Rothenhoefer will help to coordinate national ranking processes, score reporting procedures, and weekly conference calls. She will be responsible for reporting regional rankings to the National Committee, participate in national selections, brackets negotiations, and oversee committee expenses.

Committee appointments were made in October by the Division III Presidents Council and Management Council of the NCAA.
