2007-08 Team Sportsmanship Award winners.
Implemented in 2007-08, the Team Sportsmanship Award is designed to acknowledge the men's and women’s teams in each sport that, in the opinion of its peers, most closely demonstrates good sportsmanship based on the ideals of the CSAC and its Code of Conduct.
THE TEAM: Did they show respect by not using profanity, vulgarity, racist or sexist comments? Did they respect facilities by leaving them clean and intact? Did they play without trash talking?
THEIR FANS: Did their fans cheer for their team in a positive manner, without cheering against yours? Did they cheer without getting personal in comments about players, coaches and officials? Did they respect the value of the sport and uphold the spirit of Division III?
GAME MANAGEMENT: Was the team welcomed to the competition site? Was the event properly staffed, allowing both teams to focus on playing the game? Did they ensure the safety of teams, officials and spectators?
COACHES: Did the coach address unsportsmanlike conduct as it occurred? Did they coach within the spirit of the game, exhibiting fairness, honesty and respect? Did they serve as a positive example to teams, fans and officials?
OVERALL ATMOSPHERE: Was it a collegial atmosphere in which student-athletes can compete? Was it alcohol and tobacco free? Was it representative of the spirit of Division III?
