JOB TITLE: Social Media Specialist Intern
The Colonial States Athletics Conference (CSAC) is now accepting applications for a Social Media Specialist in the conference office for Spring championships 2023.  

Anticipated Start Date: March 27, 2023; start date negotiable to accommodate intern’s academic and/or athletic schedule  

Duration: Seven weeks  

Job Description: The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) is seeking a highly motivated, currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student who is interested in gaining experience in athletic communications, sports marketing, social media, graphic design, and athletic administration. Current students with strong written, verbal, and social media communications skills, and are dependable and can easily work independently and as a member of a team are encouraged to apply. 
The CSAC will use NCAA diversity grant funding to create this paid internship position to provide a woman and/or ethnic minority with opportunities for creativity and growth within the ever-evolving landscape of college athletics. 

This position will enhance the foundation of a diverse and inclusive culture within the Division III conference office environment. Under the direct supervision of CSAC staff this internship will assist with the promotion of the CSAC 10 institutional athletic departments and the conference’s eight championships by developing a unique social media engagement strategy and creating specialized content across multiple platforms. 

Responsibilities: The CSAC Social Media Specialist will assist the conference office with coverage of its eight NCAA Division III conference spring championship sports with a focus on social media planning and promotion across Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. This position will also provide support in the preparation of media relations material, graphic development, and visual coverage of championship events to heighten conference visibility for the purpose of engaging student-athletes and enhancing their overall experience and success. 

Qualifications:  
  • Highly motivated with attention to detail and accuracy  
  • Knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) 
  • Creative mindset 
  • Ability to multitask 
  • Time management skills with the ability to work evening and weekend hours upon request 
  • Working towards obtaining a bachelor’s or master’s degree in communications, public relations or marketing, sport management or a related field 
  • Proficiency with desktop video editing software 
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suites (Photoshop and Premiere) 
Compensation: A stipend of $875 funded through an NCAA grant for the seven-week time period. No other benefits are provided for this part-time internship position. 

Work Environment: This position requires the ability to work off hours as necessary to accomplish tasks and promotion for spring athletics championship events. Must be able to communicate virtually with the conference office while working remotely.
