2009 Women's Lacrosse Pre-Season Coaches' Poll
Aston, Pa. – Cabrini College’s women’s lacrosse team has been selected as the pre-season favorite in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) coaches’ poll. The 2008 conference runner-up, the Cavaliers received seven of eight possible first-place votes for a total of 63 points to finish ahead of Gwynedd-Mercy College.
“It is an honor to be selected as the pre-season favorite by the head coaches in the Colonial States Athletic Conference,” said Cabrini College Head Coach Jackie Neary. “We look forward to having a great 2009 season.”
Under Neary, the Cavaliers have made appearances in the conference championship game for twelve consecutive seasons, winning eight straight conference titles between 1998 and 2005. Since the start of the program in 1997, the Cavaliers have suffered only four losses in conference play and enter the 2009 season with a 106-4 record against conference opponents.
Gwynedd-Mercy College earned a total of 52 points to finish in second place in the poll. Neumann College was selected third with 42 points.
College of Notre Dame (39), Centenary College (35), Marywood University (23), Immaculata University (19) and Cedar Crest College (15) round out the voting.
The 2009 CSAC Women’s Lacrosse Championship begins with semifinal action on Wednesday, April 29th. The CSAC Championship Game is set for Saturday, May 2nd.

Player of the Week
Centenary College’s Danielle Bay (Fr., A, Phillipsburg, N.J. / Phillipsburg) was named the Colonial States Athlete Conference (CSAC) Women’s Lacrosse Co-Player of the Week for the week ending May 3rd. In a 1-0 week in non-conference play, Bay tallied five points on four goals and one assist, as well as four groundballs, one caused turnover, and two draw controls, leading the team to a 14-12 win over Ramapo.

Neumann College’s Gabby D’Ambrosio (Sr., M, Mount Laurel, N.J. / Holy Cross) was named the Colonial States Athlete Conference (CSAC) Women’s Lacrosse Co-Player of the Week for the week ending April 26th. In an 0-1 week, D’Ambrosio scored five goals and one assist, including her 200th and 201st career goals, cementing her spot as the Knights’ all-time leading goal scorer.
Gwynedd-Mercy College’s Shannon Carabba (Fr., A, Erdenheim, Pa. / Springfield) was named the Colonial States Athlete Conference (CSAC) Women’s Lacrosse Co-Player of the Week for the week ending April 26th. Carabba scored a game-high four goals in the second half of the Griffin’s win over Notre Dame, helping the team clinch the number one seed in the CSAC playoffs.

Gwynedd-Mercy College’s Kristie Pollock (Soph., M, Kennett Square, Pa. / Unionville) was named the Colonial States Athlete Conference (CSAC) Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week for the week ending April 19th. Pollock posted four goals and two assists in the Griffins’ upset win over Cabrini. With four groundballs, Pollock led the team to a 1-0 week in conference play.

Pollock posted 10 points on seven goals and three assists, including five goals in the second half to rally the team from a three-goal deficit to a victory over Centenary. With one caused turnover and 10 groundballs, Pollock led the Griffins to a 2-0 (1-0 CSAC) week.

Rebecca Whiteman, Immaculata University (Soph., A, Malvern, Pa. / Great Valley) recorded eight points on six goals and two assists, won two draw controls, caused two turnovers and collected two groundballs to lead the Mighty Macs to their first win of the season.

Cabrini College’s Erin Nollen (Jr., A, West Chester, Pa. / Henderson) was named the Colonial States Athlete Conference (CSAC) Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week for the week ending April 5th. Nollen posted 21 points on 13 goals and eight assists, including eight goals and two assists in the Cavalier’s win over Neumann. With five goals and six assists in a victory over Centenary, Nollen led the team to a 2-1 (2-0 CSAC) week.

Dellostretto scored eight goals, including seven in the second half, to rally the team to a 19-17 win over Marywood. With a total of 18 points for the week, Dellostretto recorded one assist and 17 goals on 25 shots, including 2 game-winners, leading the Griffins to a 2-1 (1-0 CSAC) week.

College of Notre Dame’s Lauren Terry (Jr., A, Towson, Md. / Catholic) was named the Colonial States Athlete Conference (CSAC) Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week for the week ending March 22nd. Terry posted four of the final six goals in the final six minutes of regulation to force overtime, notching an assist on the game-winning goal in the Gators’ 16-15 win over Centenary. Ending the week with 13 points on 12 goals and one assist, Terry also recorded seven draw controls to lead the team to a 1-1 week in conference play.

Garone posted nine goals, including the game-winner, two draw controls, two caused turnovers and one groundball in the Cyclones 23-22 win over Misericordia. Ending the week with 14 points on 12 goals and two assists, Garone led the team to a 2-0 week in non-conference play.

Dombroski posted a career-high six goals to lead the Falcons to a 9-4 victory over Ferrum College. With her two caused turnovers, two groundballs and two draw controls, Dombroski led the team to a 1-0 week in non-conference play.
