Aston, Pa., - Bryan Johnson of Cabrini College was named the male Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Scholar Athlete of the Year, while Alycia Tranchitella of Gwynedd-Mercy College picked up the female CSAC Scholar Athlete of the Year honors.
Johnson, a senior goalkeeper, earned a 3.71 gpa while majoring in Exercise Science & Health Promotion at Cabrini College. On the field Johnson allowed just 19 goals this season with 77 saves and 7 shutouts helping the Cavaliers to a 16-4-2 record. For his career he had 16 shutouts with a 0.96 goals-against average and a 38-12-4 record. In his collegiate career Johnson was a 3-time Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team selection, 3-time CSAC All-Academic team member and was named the Cabrini Girard-Goodwin Male Scholar Athlete (highest cum GPA among seniors) in 2009-10.
Tranchitella, a senior member of the cross country team, earned a 3.97 while majoring in Business Education at Gwynedd-Mercy College. Alycia was named the 2009-10 Gwynedd-Mercy College Senior Female Athlete while also being honored by the Philadelphia Inquirer in 2009 as the Academic All-Area Women's Cross Country Performer of the Year. The standout runner also picked up accoldates in 2009 from the USTFCCCA with a spot on the All-Academic Team. Tranchitella was a four year member of the CSAC All-Academic Team. Her athletic accomplishments include earning the 2007 and 2009 CSAC Women's Cross Country Individual Championship while helping the Griffins to its first-ever CSAC championship in 2009.
