Colonial States Athletic Conference

ROSEMONT, Pa. -  Centenary University swept both Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) men's basketball awards on Monday afternoon. 

Junior guard Chris LaBelle and graduate forward Tom Weiler were named the Player and Defensive Player of the Week for their efforts last week.

LaBelle did a little bit of everything and broke a CSAC record while leading the Cyclones to three wins and the top seed in the CSAC this week. The junior guard averaged 20 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game last week. In Monday's win over Saint Elizabeth, LaBelle contributed 22 points and eight assists. He was 10-for-13 from the foul line in that game and late in the second half broke the CSAC record for single-season free throws when he hit his 169th free throw of the season. In Wednesday's win at Keystone, LaBelle recorded 17 points and 10 rebounds for his third double-double of the season. He also added seven assists and helped the Cyclones force two key turnovers in the final seconds of a close game. LaBelle then scored 19 of his game-high 21 points to lead the Cyclones to the come from behind win over Cairn. LaBelle's 60 points this week allowed him to become the third player in program history to score at least 500 points in a single-season at Centenary. The win over Carin allowed the Cyclones to tie the 1996 team for the most wins in single-season history (17) and extend the win streak to seven games, which is the longest in program history. 

Weiler dominated the boards while leading the Cyclones to three wins and the top seed in the CSAC Tournament. Weiler averaged 11 rebounds per game and added 21 points and 3.3 assists per game. In Monday's win over Saint Elizabeth, Weiler contributed 13 rebounds, all of which came on the defensive end. He also scored a career-high 26 points in that game and added three assists. In Wednesday's road victory at Keystone, Weiler posted 11 rebounds, all of which came on the defensive end and added 20 points for his second straight double-double and third of the season. In Saturday's come from behind win, Weiler had nine rebounds, 17 points and four assists. The win over Cairn allowed the Cyclones to tie the 1996 team for the most wins in single-season history (17) and win their seventh straight game which is the longest win streak in program history. 

Honor Roll selections went to Keystone freshman forward Marcus Bauman who had 11 rebounds in the overtime win over Wilson...Keystone junior guard Tone Cockrell who averaged 22.5 points and ten rebounds per game...Rosemont sophomore forward Zaire Mitchell who had 16 points in the win over Clarks Summit...Cairn senior forward Addley Brennan who had 23 points in the win over Bryn Athyn...College of Saint Elizabeth senior center Roland Romano who had 17.5 points and 7.5 in two games.

In its lone game of the week, Bryn Athyn dropped an 82-64 decision to Cairn. Okoye Taylor had 22 points in the loss…Jeremiah Harris scored his 1,000^th career point for Cairn in a loss to Centenary…Centenary wrapped up the number one seed in the upcoming CSAC playoffs with two wins last week, including a rally against Cairn, 71-63. The Cyclones, who have won seven straight, got 21 points from Chris Labelle in the win over the Highlanders…Donovan McCrae had 16 points for Clarks Summit against Saint Elizabeth… Tone Cockrell scored a team-high 29 points for Keystone behind 10-of-18 shooting from the field, going 5-of-8 from deep against Wilson as the Giants kept their playoff hopes alive…Zaire Mitchell had 16 points for Rosemont in its win over Clarks Summit…Jason Saldiveri had 24 points for Saint Elizabeth in a loss to Centenary…Rashaan Bean had 29 points for Wilson in an overtime loss to Keystone.
