Colonial States Athletic Conference

ROSEMONT, Pa. – Centenary sophomore forward Billy Veras and freshman forward D’Angelo Blackmond were named as the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Men’s Basketball Player and Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon by the conference office.

Veras did a little bit of everything to lead the Cyclones to a 2-0 week as Centenary maintained its perch atop the CSAC standings. The sophomore forward averaged 20 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. Veras shot an impressive 68 percent (17-for-25) from the field for the week. The sophomore forward had a team-high 16 points and nine rebounds in the road win at Saint Elizabeth. Veras then helped the Cyclones avenge their only loss in conference play with a win at home over Rosemont. The sophomore knocked down 24 points to go along with eight rebounds and matched his career-high with five assists.

Blackmond dominated the boards to lead the Cyclones to two wins and kept the team atop the CSAC standings. He averaged 11.5 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game while also adding 12.5 points per game. The freshman started his week with nine boards in the road win at Saint Elizabeth. He also added 15 points and two rebounds in that game. On Saturday, Blackmond helped the Cyclones avenge their only CSAC loss of the season with a home win against Rosemont. Blackmond pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds as the Cyclones dominated the rebounding battle, 52-33. He added 10 points in that game as well. Blackmond leads the CSAC while averaging 8.8 rebounds per game.

Honor Roll selections went to Keystone junior guard Tone Cockrell who averaged 21 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists in a 2-0 week. He also shot 18-for-19 from the foul line (94.7 percent)…Cairn senior forward Addley Brennan who averaged 20 points in two wins for the Highlanders..Wilson junior forward Zachary Powell who had a 15 point, 11 rebound performance in a win over Saint Elizabeth.
