ROSEMONT, Pa, - Cedar Crest College graduate shortstop Dallas Horning and Wilson College graduate pitcher Megan Potter were named as the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week on Monday afternoon by the conference office.
Horning went 3-for-6 (.500) this week in their doubleheader versus Centenary on Saturday. She had an RBI and scored a run in the sweep of the Cyclones. In the top of the 6th inning of Game 2, just after the Cyclones tied the game at 3-3 with two outs, there was a ball hit up the middle, but Horning made a full-extension dive to make the play, got to one knee and threw out the runner to save another run from crossing the plate. In the bottom of the 6th inning, Horning got on base with a single through the right side, then scored the game-winning run and helped the Falcons claim the sweep.
Potter went 3-0 on the week, including a five-inning no-hitter against Rosemont. She struck out 15 while holding batters to a .173 average.
Honor Roll selections went to Saint Elizabeth University’s Mercedes Rivera who went .692 (9-for-13) over four games, collecting three hits in games against Valley Forge and Clarks Summit. Notre Dame of Maryland’s Maci Lopez who went 2-for-4 against Keystone and 3-for-5 against Cairn…Wilson’s Taylor Barker who had five hits in four games for the Phoenix…Clarks Summit’s Randie Traxler who had ten hits in four games last week…Cairn’s Jenna Kenyon who went 4-for-5 in a sweep of Notre Dame…Keystone’s Shannon Lloyd who became the school’s all-time leader in hits…Keystone’s Madolyn Fernandes who went 2-0 with a 1.40 ERA in wins over Notre Dame and Valley Forge..Cairn’s Krista Earl who allowed just three hits in a win over Notre Dame…Cedar Crest’s Breanna Young who picked up a win over Breanna Young…Saint Elizabeth’s Alyssa Hampton who had four wins on the week, while fanning nine…Notre Dame’s Jessie Leatherwood who had 16 strikeouts in games against Keystone and Cairn.
